@marcusgreen the guys in #linuxmatters talked about using the snap with some good results. I tried it a while back and was also successful.

@popey @syft i’ve got mine at position one. This is eye level for me because I am very tall. Probably you should go for number two or number three. By the way I also have one of these monitors thanks to #Linuxmatters podcast. Thank you for the suggestion!
-
@popey what made you decide to switch? I’m only asking because one of the #linuxmatters pods got me started with Zerotier. (If anything besides sponsorship😅)

@jorge well @wimpy has talked on #LinuxMatters about customizing NixOS for a better hardened system for the non-tech people (family / friends) he supports which were an original target for Ubuntu Mate. The way you promote #Bluefin seems to overlap here to a subset of target end users. I customize Ubuntu for use by several African tech colleagues who in turn support many more non-tech African literacy workers. Having an atomic / defined reproducible base that the tech workers can use is the goal.
-
@wimpy and @jorge any possibilities of a @nixos_org vs @UniversalBlue comparision / contrast discussion, particularly focused on supporting it / promoting it for non-tech users?
Your perspectives would be really valuable for a lot of people I suspect that are looking at "next generation Linux support".
Maybe something for the #LinuxMatters or @LateNightLinux podcasts?

I believe it was @popey on the latest #LinuxMatters podcast who talked about the joy of programming, using some examples of just coding in plain ol’ php (no frameworks) just to make something.
So, for the last week or so I have been taking an old routine in various languages, .NET and the WinSCP API and rewriting it in plain Python just because. It’s probably all wrong. But I have been chuffed at every stage of the game. I am almost ready to start using it IRL.

One of my favourite quotations:
"It's almost as if lobbyists exist and capitalism is the problem."(Regarding some facepalm telecommunications regulations)

Thanks! Wow, no wonder you like that. Beautiful machine!
I've been considering to upgrade from my L450, the idea coming partly from the episode on #LinuxMatters about the best Linux-loving laptop! 😀I'm leaning towards the T14s

@cooper Jokes aside, I think it was @wimpy who recently did a bit on #LinuxMatters about the Stream Deck and using it to automate stuff in the Linux environment. It sounded really interesting, and even though I've managed to resist the urge to buy one just for that, if you have one already it could be a fun use for it.

@JoeRess Banner episode, well done all! I was literally yelling at my radio about the Lenovo choice. But turns out the z13 appears to be better than the usual black hulks.
With the slight "issue" that the 1200 euro config is unobtainium and the ones that are available start at 2200 euro. Which clearly is Macbook Pro territory.
Anyway, great (re-)start. Thanks and keep it up! #linuxmatters

Ohh, look at that! @popey @wimpy and Alan are back. Time to subscribe to Linux Matters and 'disable updates' on the Ubuntu podcast (to avoid the stats being polluted).
