**Ob ich mich schon mal von einem Musikstück zu einer Geschichte habe hinreißen lassen?**
Oh ja. Es gab da diesen einen, schicksalhaften Versuch, einem Lied ein literarisches Denkmal zu setzen.
Das Setting war eigentlich grundsolide: Ein verregneter, trüber Nachmittag im Häuschen von Funny, Lily und Darin. Jeder ging seiner Kernkompetenz nach. Funny liest Kochbücher und zauberte entspannt Gebäck aus dem Ofen, Darin lötete hochkonzentriert an einem alten Radio aus der Menschenwelt herum, und Lily... nun ja, Lily tat eben das, was eine Lily am besten kann: hochprofessionell Unsinn stiften.
Plötzlich erwacht besagtes Radio krächzend zum Leben und scheppert Hans Hartz' *„Die weißen Tauben sind müde“* in die gute Stube, woraufhin die drei in eine tiefschürfende Diskussion über den Song verfallen.
Als das Werk schließlich vollbracht war, lehnte ich mich zurück und begutachtete mein Schaffen. Ich habe die Geschichte gedreht und gewendet. Bin misstrauisch dreimal um sie herumgelaufen, habe sie gegens Licht gehalten – und kam zu einem vernichtenden Urteil.
Die Geschichte war... *nett*.Und wie wir alle wissen, ist „nett“ die kleine, untalentierte Schwester von „beschissen“. Also tat ich das einzig Richtige: Ich nahm das Manuskript behutsam an die Hand, führte es schweigend die Kellertreppe hinab und habe es tief im hintersten Winkel meines Archivs feierlich beerdigt. Dort soll es Staub ansetzen und ruhen bis ans Ende aller Tage.
Es sei denn natürlich, Funny, Lily und Darin gründen irgendwann eine Gewerkschaft und bestehen lautstark darauf, dass auch diese Anekdote in ferner, ferner Zukunft doch noch das Licht der Welt erblicken muss. Aber bis dahin bleibt das Kellerlicht aus.

If you can get away from the usual urban Japan to someplace like the Kyōto Botanical Garden (京都府立植物園), there are many beautiful flowers including giant lotuses (蓮) and water lilies (睡蓮) shown here. You can see from the kanji character 蓮 that they are related. Travel tip: catch the lotuses in the morning before they close up for the day.

I thought this was just a cute photo to share for #Caturday. But in researching what the big flower was, I found out that this is apparently an orange lily, which is EXTREMELY toxic to cats. We had no idea. We were just very, very lucky that Max never ingested any part of it and lived for many years after. Human companions, please make sure all the flowers you bring into your home are safe for your friends!
