City of Raleigh Weekend Event Guide – Fire Prevention Fun at Lowe’s on October 17

Families looking for things to do in Raleigh this weekend can enjoy hands-on creativity and fire prevention education at the Fire Prevention Week: Lowe’s Community Event and Workshop on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lowe’s Home Improvement on Grove Barton Road, the community event includes a children’s building workshop, a bounce house, a fire truck and goodie bags.

Build and Decorate a Firefighting Plane

The Firefighting Plane workshop, sponsored by First Alert, invites kids to build and decorate a rescue plane ready for imaginary missions.

The project encourages bravery, creativity and hands-on learning, giving children a fun way to explore a firefighting theme while making something of their own.

Learn About Fire Prevention

Visitors can also learn about fire prevention during the event. Alongside the workshop, families can enjoy:
