Good: found the LED headlamp I bought years ago and put it to use.
Bad: it needed using because I had to explore the attic to figure out why the ventilation fan wasn't running.
Good: fan's thermostat trigger was just set all the way up for some reason, easy fix!
Bad: fan makes disgruntled noises and only very, very slowly turns when it is kicked on, even after making sure there's nothing clogging it. Seems like a recipe for a fire later. Set it back to 'all the way up' (no off switch), calling HVAC people tomorrow.
Good: remembered to replace the AC filter while I had the ladder out.
Bad: clambered all over the attic in my good around-the-house pants, oops.

- Got the driveway/hardscaping leveled/fixed up/re-sealed, which has already paid dividends this year re: snow/ice and will hopefully keep doing so once weed season starts
- Found out the hard way that you really need your minisplit interior heads deep-cleaned by a professional every ~5 years, simply vacuuming it yourself twice a year only goes so far 🤢
- Replaced both our bathroom sink faucets in the span of, like, a month. Thanks, previously hard water. -

Hmm yea I think it's time to replace the sump pumps. Seems the standard is anywhere from 7-10 years, and ours has multiple hallmarks of “more likely to die sooner instead of later" (lots of minerals in the water, high water table, runs a lot, lack of prior maintenance).
And will be 10 years old next year anyways. 😬

So pleased with myself. I cleaned out the lawn mower #carburetor and it runs now! Tricky moment when a tiny metal disc fell out of the carburetor 😂 All hail YouTube DIYers though, am I right? Too late to mow now, it's almost surface of the sun level out there now. #heat #JustHomeownerThings

Thursday the AC guy came over for seasonal maintenance. Looks like our ductwork in the ceiling is literally being held together by duct tape. Original hard ducts from the 90s.
To get up to code will cost us a LOT of money.
