  1. Today I replaced the empty battery of my vintage #Roland #Juno106 #Synthesizer.

An empty battery in this old unit results in complete amnesia of all sound presets. (Unlike the #Ensoniq #ESQ1, that – at least with later firmwares – comes up with the factory presets in such an event, and then continues having dementia…)

The first time I had done so, I had installed a battery holder to make things easier. The original battery is soldered into the board.

Always fun is to restore the backup via the #tapeInterface with that #datassette sound.

I really love how the Juno 106 is constructed. Easy access if you know those 6 screws… it's a pretty well-made, all-solid device.

Today's Roland (and BOSS) gear feels like cheap plastic toys compared to this. I guess you have to go for an expensive #Sequential synth today if you want this quality.

The Juno 106 synthesizers were made from 1984 to 1988. My dad had bought this unit brand new when I was a kid.

  6. Replacing 3 mixers with a brand new #Tascam Model 24 and loving the cleaner workflow. Proper gain staging per synth and 200% fewer dirty connections has the setup sounding great for the first time in a long time.

  11. Here's an update on the #Juno106 theme on my personal #Mastodon browser setup.

I'm not a #CSS expert by any means, but it's fun to tweak stuff according to my preferences. I use the #Stylebot extension in Chrome. #UI

  15. Ever the #synth nerd, I have now styled #Mastodon after my #Juno106. I have too much time on my hands! (I don't...)

Thanks again to @disquiet for persuading me to dust off some dust collectors. "Choose a word and put it before “techno.” Those two words in combination are your new subgenre"

This jam was driven by an Arturia Beatstep Pro, clocking a Drum Brute Impact. Two synths were used: Juno-106 and a Moog Subsequent 25. The Sub 25 had a Line 6 delay inserted on it's channel and the mixer send effects ran though an Ocean's 12 reverb.

  17. @synth_daddy_sqweebking sometimes accidents happen in the studio and they sound cool as hell. This mornings jam, when booted back up this evening, had some interesting sequencer channel crosstalk with a couple synths. The result is this funky bebop that normally would be a fleeting jam, impossible to reproduce after hitting record, caught by my daw on the first take. :success:

  18. After nursing a headache for most of the day I finally got myself into the studio to record a jam for #Jamuary - A simple 3 track piece that I couldn't be bothered to go back and fix the arpeggio on, it is a "jam" after all.

    A meditation jam - featuring #roland #juno106 #juno6 #moog #matriarch #strymon #bigsky

  19. Replaced the battery to keep the patches on the #juno106. Turned out to be easier than anticipated, some kind soul had already replaced the normal soldered on the board battery with a holder. So only needed to replace the battery.
