Made some #BakJupGai (#Cantonese for #PoachedChicken) and am making some #Jook (#Congee) with the poaching broth now.
Will add shredded dark meat for the jook & serve the chopped chicken breast pieces over steamed rice with minced ginger/green onion sauce with the rest.
The chicken cost 99 cents/# & the rice cost pennies for the amount used.

I ate #jook woth chicken confit, cilantro, mushroom, and egg. I really wanted to like it, but aside from the egg and cilantro it was surprisingly bland. Looks delicious though.

I never measure the amount of water or rice when I make #jook . 🤷♂️

@mookie I'm starting to cook 2 whole chickens 2 ways right now: 1) poaching one to make #BakChitGai & 2) am oven roasting the other.
Bought then on sale for 78 cents/# but didn't have enough room in my freezer to freeze & keep them. So, I've gotta cook 'em.
Will make save the water from the Bak Chit Gai for chicken broth & may use it to make come # Chicken #Jook too. 😉
