🌞 Construction has started on a massive 13,000-panel solar array at JFK Airport’s new Terminal One. This project will be the largest solar installation in New York City and one of the largest at any airport terminal in the U.S.

The 6.63-MW solar array is part of a larger 12-MW microgrid, which will use solar power, fuel cells, and batteries to reduce JFK’s carbon footprint.

XMas plans don’t always work out as expected. Aer Lingus flight 106 from JFK to Dublin proved overly brief. I was was on the way home when engine trouble, shortly after takeoff, necessitated an immediate return following reports of a right engine fire. A couple of disturbing minutes before we got safely back on the ground. Never good to here loud banging noises after takeoff. Almost 3 AM and still waiting for our bags to be returned at #JFKAirport Ugg

I was lucky enough to visit #NewYork at the end of #2019 just before #Covid struck. I had great weather, walked along the Skyline, went on the #StatenIslandFerry at dawn, walked through Central Park and saw the New York Marathon from Brooklyn and visited a bunch of galleries and museums including the 9/11 memorial. It’s the last time I have flown other than a short trip to Glasgow.
