  1. "Not All Bright Lights Over New Jersey Are Drones, Here’s How You Can Rule Out Planes, Planets, and Satellites" by Shore News Network - Besides learning how to recognize airplanes in the night sky, some apps can tell you which flight you're looking at. Also some mistaken drone hysteria reports could have been avoided by looking up basic #astronomy info. shorenewsnetwork.com/2024/12/2 #NYdrones #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  2. CW: typical SNL crude humor in interview of a Jersey Drone (NSFW)

NBC Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update: A Drone Discusses the Mysterious Drone Sightings" video - SNL #comedy skit interviews a drone from New Jersey youtube.com/watch?v=5xngnT592K #NYdrones #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek #humor

  3. "FAA banning drone flights over New Jersey, New York sites" by Reuters - Specific sites covered by FAA 30-day Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) are critical infrastructure, just as a precaution. Officially this is a response to public concern, not due to any specific threat. reuters.com/world/us/faa-banni #NYdrones #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  4. 26 more Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) issued by US Federal Aviation Administration FAA in New York state prohibiting #drone/#sUAS flights within 1 nautical mile radius up to 400ft at specific locations. sources: FAA tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html and SkyVector skyvector.com/?ll=40.566676502 #NYdrones #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  5. "US temporarily bans drones in parts of NJ, may use “deadly force” against aircraft" by @arstechnica - At the time of the article 22 TFRs prohibiting drone flights in specific 1-nautical mile areas across NJ were issued. Since then another one, so far. FAA says use of deadly force is authorized to shoot down drones in those areas deemed to be a threat. (Note discharge of firearms in an urban area may hit uninvolved people.) arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20 #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  6. The #drone Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) in New Jersey all have text prohibiting most sUAS (small uncrewed aircraft systms) flights inside the TFR boundaries with exceptions for national defense, law enforcement, emergency responders, commercial flights already approved by FAA, flights covered under an FAA waiver for government operations. A separate "SGI waiver" is also required for flight in these TFRs. tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  7. US🇺🇸 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued 23 (and counting) Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) in New Jersey prohibiting #drones within the TFR boundaries effective through January 17. All are 1 nautical mile in diameter. Most are effective from the surface to 400ft above ground level (AGL) where other restrictions on drones protect aircraft in the National Airspace System, except for the newest one from surface to 1000ft. #NJdrones #JerseyDrones #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  8. All the pictures in #NJdrones / #JerseyDrones hysteria which show "things" with anti-collision lights🔴🟢 should be interpreted as aircraft or drones which are not trying to hide. City-dwellers panicking about planets and stars in the night sky should be ignored/blocked without further thought. Hypothetical clandestine operations, whether foreign or criminal, would not have lights at all, but are still visible by infrared & radar. 🤔 #aviation #pilot #avgeek

  9. "Why is every picture of the New Jersey drones so bad?" by @verge - Phone camera photos at night are inevitably blurry because they're the wrong tool for that job. But they're the tool everyone has. Unrecognizable flying objects are mostly airplanes, some planets & stars. Some real drones, possibly more than before searching for answers to the hysteria. Non-avgeeks learning there's stuff to see in the sky. theverge.com/2024/12/18/243243 #JerseyDrones #NJdrones #drone #aviation #pilot #avgeek #WTF
