  1. So, I just created a new #XMPP / #Jabber account, and then headed over to #Movim for an instance.

    We're up and running: mov.im/?blog/youronlyone

    Thank you for the heads-up @mattj @debacle

    I remember now the services I used all those years ago:
    * #TalkrIM (they offered managed XMPP hosting with custom domain, I can't recall if they used #ejabberd)
    * #BuddyCloud
    * #Jappix
    * #Juick – I think it's still working, but I haven't tested yet (and only one instance left, the flagship server?)

    My XMPP account is now at Tigase.IM family of sites.

  6. @clacke Jappix is abandoned for years. And yes it was using the same XMPP extensions than Movim and SàT (mainly XEP-0277 which is Atom over PubSub). The graphic you're linking is interesting, thought I'm not sure why Movim and SàT are stopped at 2011 while they are still both actively developed (I'm the main dev of the later).

  8. I think I only heard about #Movim in 2012 or something. I think it was when Prodromou was working on pump.io that someone said "what about these XMPP-based social networks?" and I had to ask "what XMPP-based social networks?" and I was pointed at Movim and #Jappix.

    I think I knew about BuddyCloud at the time, but didn't know there was a standard and everything.
