Je pense que je (suis devenu ?) deviens un vieux con.
J'ai mal de chien avec ce marketing à outrance qui tutoie systématiquement. (On se connaît ?)
Pas vous ?
Vieux con j'vous dis 😁

We've just finished the extraordinary general assemblee for the "Salut à Toi" XMPP client: it is now officially renamed to "Libervia", and frontends should be named on the model "libervia-web", "libervia-desktop". I hope this will facilitate life for non French speakers, and reduce confusion with all the different names.
-
While we are re-thinking our names, there is also a problem with the name of the desktop/mobile frontend, which is currently "Cagou". It cause troubles for Portuguese speakers.
Anybody fluent in Portuguese here to help solve this? Would a spelling change like "Kagou" fix the issue?
Thanks

@debacle @copyrights @0 indeed the CLI frontend for Salut à Toi does handle OMEMO with something like:
$ echo 'pssst, this message is encrypted' | jp message send -e omemo [email protected]
To use it from Python (or any other language) you can either call the executable, or use directly the D-Bus API.
-
I've just implemented Full-Text Search in SàT PubSub and SàT/Libervia and it's deployed on https://www.goffi.org. Thanks to pubsub generic nature, it's usable out of the box for the blog or the ticket system (or any pubsub based feature).
Also moved data schema (used for tickets notably) to XEP-0346, so it now works with any PubSub service, not only SàT PubSub!
I hope to find time to write a progress note soon.

I've just updated https://www.goffi.org with new Libervia (Salut à Toi) theme. How do you like it? I've not updated libervia.org yet, will do soon. There is also a progress note which is close to be published.

Progress note (W14) is out.

I've been working on attachments + OMEMO user experience lastly in Salut à Toi (just implemented BTBV policy, so no need to manually accept all fingerprints by default). I think Cagou (Desktop/mobiles frontend) is now really usable! I'll publish a progress note soon, probably with some screenshots, stay tuned.
I'm currently participating at the online Berlin Sprint, things are moving fast for XMPP these days.

New progress note (W08) available at https://www.goffi.org/b/HsWxUHzXdvsH7Syrx8f6Ne/progress-note
It's talking about some UX improvements in Cagou -
@Benetako_Arkatiur I'm the main dev of SàT. It is not yet on F-Droid because the Android version was, so far, not stable enough, I''ve made improvment on that and will most probably propose it to F-Droid for the next release (0.8), which I hope to do in a couple of weeks.
-
@clacke Jappix is abandoned for years. And yes it was using the same XMPP extensions than Movim and SàT (mainly XEP-0277 which is Atom over PubSub). The graphic you're linking is interesting, thought I'm not sure why Movim and SàT are stopped at 2011 while they are still both actively developed (I'm the main dev of the later).
-
@0 @Truck @humanetech I have already implemented a decentralised issue tracker on top of XMPP/PubSub (cf. https://salut-a-toi.org and https://bugs.goffi.org, UI/UX will get some improvements soon), the advantages are the same as for blogging + common PubSub API to manage it.
-
is there still anybody managing https://omemo.top ? I've made PR since December 2019 to update Salut à Toi status, and nobody has checked or commenter it. There is also a waiting PR for Poezio even older than mine.
Would be nice to have to update from people managing this website, thanks.

Here is the first progress note of the year (W01) available at https://www.goffi.org/b/66adNNNbFp84CWFzyvGpmK/progress-note
It is talking again about OMEMO (with full support one2one, files + MUC now available in SàT), and UX on Android.
#salutatoi #XMPP #progress_note #kivy #OMEMO #e2ee #e2e #encryption #android
-
OMEMO implementation is now complete in Salut à Toi : one2one, group chat (MUC) and files! Usable on desktop, Android, console (TUI), and command line.
For web, due to SàT architecture, it's done on the backend for now so it's not e2e in this case at the moment.
Release should come soon (couple of weeks at most).

New progress note (W51) available at https://www.goffi.org/b/JLPTTHfRnqhxNozHjRz553/progress-note
This one is about Kivy, infinite scroll and other changes, and OMEMO with e2e file sharing
#salutatoi #XMPP #progress_note #kivy #OMEMO #e2ee #e2e #encryption #aesgcm
-
Just pushed `aesgcm` scheme implementation (aka "OMEMO Media Sharing") in SàT repos, in other term e2e files encryption is now available.
As usual with SàT, it is also usable from CLI with `jp`, e2e encrypting and uploading a file is as simple as `jp file upload --encrypt your_file.ext`
Download à la wget is: `jp file get "aesgcm://…"`
Despite its name, this is usable without #OMEMO, as long as the URL is not leaked you can use it to share files.
progress note will come soon

@strypey I agree that the #Fediverse should be for public content. For publishing snippets for the world to see or perhaps a limited audience but never snippets that contain any sensitive information.
#XMPP and social networks built on it, like #Movim of #SalutAToi, are better for private social networking. Even though I recently discovered #ScuttleButt, which seems even better for private socialing! -
