That "we" in our IT-education at HVL and in general require our students to bring their own laptops to uni was a good deal for us since the desktops got outdated faster than the apps on your phone. However, in the light of that nobody will be able to afford new laptops this year and next, this may put some of them in a tough spot, shelling out a few hundred Euro/thousand kroner in excess.

#HVL had joined the “Norsk konsortium for palestinsk høyere utdanning (NorPal)” (Norwegian Consortium for Higher Education in Palestine) last year, and I’m wondering what they’re making of this whole mess. I think there was a round of funding applications recently.
It’s also mildly eye-brow raising that HVL only published this in the internal news portal, not publicly, like NTNU, so I’ll link to their article instead: https://www.ntnu.edu/norpal

As academics, we not only teach or do research, but we also organize national or international events. These events wouldn’t happen without sponsors, and one sponsor that over the past years has always contributed to our events is the City Council of Bergen! As a token of appreciation, for a few years now already the city council appoints those as “Bergen Ambassadors” that have hosted events in the city with the help of the city council.

mein #freudiverse der woche kommt von meiner Personenwaage: Seit Anfang der Jahres habe ich schon 5kg abgenommen. #gesundeernährung aus basis Lebensmitteln mit guter Qualität und verzicht auf #hvl und moderate Bewegung habendazu beigetragen. Es liegt noch einiges an Weg vor mir, doch ich glaube an mich dass ich es schaffen werde.

Makes you wonder how this can happen to such an important topic in the times of #ClimateChange. I'm wondering how much of a role the factor plays on which campus we offer the degree.
But I'm sure the truly beautiful Sogndal campus ⛰️ will only increase its attractiveness over the next few years for international students as their home cities cook under sweltering 42 degrees.

We're hiring PhD students – again!
Ilona Heldal has an open PhD research fellow position (3 years) in the Norwegian Research Council funded project «Ensuring a Competent and sustainable workforce of Midwives in Norway (CompMid)».
👶 The topic stands out a bit, doesn't it?
This doctoral project will focus on how technology can improve learning for midwifery students and practising midwives. We therefore recruit a PhD student for developing learning tool technologies, such as VR, AI-based learning tools or Live-action team-based games, for supporting student-active learning of one or more specific clinical skills. The project will design, develop and evaluate digital learning tools to improve midwives’ and midwife students’ clinical competence. The project will involve two PhD-students who will collaborate closely, one in computer science and one in midwifery science. The PhD in computer scinence will focus on software engineering with research focus on software technologies or human computer interaction techniques for clinical learning tools. The PhD in midwifery science will have a focus on the pedagogical and clinical content of the learning tools.

Bad news: via Cloudflare ⛈️Of course I don't know how our web-services actually work (the stuff that I see is mostly static content anyways), but I'm tempted to check who over there was at a fancy 🤡-flare marketing event recently.
Especially given that the institution as such is WAY over budget and we need to save money right and left...Or maybe it's just our CMS-provider Optimizely optimising their expenses...

Pining for the fjords? We're looking for a new colleague in information technology for our campus in Haugesund! This is a teaching position for our BSc in IT with research time allocation for (associate) professors.
There's a maritime cluster in Haugesund that we have good connections with, and they're quite IT/cyber-affine. Plus they have cool 🚢-simulators to play with! We'll also be happy to work with you from Bergen & Førde.

Our own Yngve Lamo will be at the national “Arendalsuka” in the debate on “Digital Health in Analog Municipalities” (Digital helse i analoge kommuner)!
Yngve has background (and opinions) on digital healthcare services, something he and other colleagues are working on here at HVL.
The event should also be streamed on Tuesday, 2024-08-13 17:00 - 17:45.

You should have experience in software verification, program analysis and/or formal modelling, or process mining.
CROFLOW collaborates with the Haukeland University Hospital, Uppsala University and the University of Lübeck.

@forteller Write up the actual requirements (when/who should be able to delete photos? should this work remotely or just in proximity? ...) and I'll turn this into a Bachelor-project next year at #HVL :-)
(Because I dabble in server-less stuff.)
But I would almost assume that some solution already exists somewhere, and an ESP32 might almost be enough, I'd guess.
