Last night was our AGM attending were 47 via zoom and 36 in the room. We had our election of Officers on the committee and we now have a new Chair Andy Harbon, and the present committee members were re-elected unopposed and we have three other members who were voted on unopposed. Andy thanked Philip Langford who was our interim Chair for stepping in over the past few months. #historysocieties #genealogy

Died 30th May 1943
Buried Dunoon Cemetery Argyle & Bute

Remembering another miner who lost his life in the Cadeby Colliery explosion in 1912.
Staffordshire. He married Elizabeth Davis on 20th August 1883, Rushall, Staffordshire.Eli died on 9th July 1912, Cadeby Colliery age 49. Employed as Under-Manager, killed in rescue party.
He was buried at Denaby Cemetery on 21st September 1912. He was aged 49.#historysocieties #genealogy -

Gilbert Young Tickle was born in 1877, Liverpool. Gilbert died on 12th July 1912, Cadeby, Doncaster age 34. On the morning of the disaster he was on his way to Barnsley Main Colliery to investigate the cause of an accident hearing of the explosion at Cadeby he went straight to the spot and nobly sacrificed his life in the hope of saving his fellows. #genealogy #historysocieties -
