Snip snip. Hedge cutting tires me out. Bit by bit. Relaxing with a pair of shears. Almost #ASMR rather than dentist drill whirring. Minimal disturbance of garden wildlife. Hedge is slightly wet (stop it) so no blowing away of the cuttings.
No need to complete it all in one go. Not a task to be rushed or ticked off on a list. Very old school Sunday.

The first hedge cut of the season approaches (not a euphamism). I like to do it my hand (still not a euphamism) and not use electric cutters (hush now) unless I really have to (i'm just saying).

There seems to be a tendency to overcut hedgerows back and down to a low height.
I understand in some places it is required for road safety but what I am seeing is also done to hedges on wide grass verges far back from the road.
Not good for wildlife that depend on hedges. I also don't understand why landowners do it anyway other than to make it look tidy.
Wouldn't it save time and money if they didn't cut back so frequently.
