    1) Write NSF
    2) Write your Congressperson
    3) CC us at [email protected] so we can compile for a collective follow-up with the House Science commitee and NSF leadership

    Some food for thought:

    Each year #NSF gives out at least 2500 #GRFP awards, each worth $159k, for a total of $400M.

    Each year about 40,000 people receive a Ph.D. in a #STEM field in the US.

    One year's GRFP budget would cover an award of about $10,000 for each Ph.D. recipient in the US.

    I have a terrific mentee looking to write a GRFP this cycle. Their research ideas are interdisciplinary; they’re interested in asking social-ecological questions. Does anyone have examples of funded proposals of this nature. They are thinking of blending research on restorative social practices / community agriculture and microbial diversity / ecology. Please forward to others working in these spheres that could help advise or who have examples. Thanks! #NSF #GRFP

    Has anyone here seen an #nsf #grfp (graduate research fellowship program) application desk rejected without evaluation? I have seen a very standard science and technology studies (#sts) one desk rejected for being about public health but 1) it wasn't 2) it was about gunshot detection, policing, and cities.

    I literally found NSF funded Brantingham of Shotspotter fame to do community studies of Shotspotter, but they desk reject a GRFP doing a socio-technical analysis???
