  1. Is anyone maintaining a fork of #gradience now that its archived?

    #gtk #linux

  2. I'm again pretty late to notice that Gradiance had been archived and maintenance stop by the Gradience Team. Just updated my flatpaks and notice a massage warning about the Gradience stable package isn't maintained anymore and will not get any updates anymore. After that I looked up the GitHub account of the project where was a link to a blog-post from their website detailing what had happened with the project.

  3. Gradience (Theming App) Has Archived Its Github Page

Sad news for fans of Gradience, the 3rd-party tool to customise the look of GTK4/libadwaita apps, as this weekend (June 29, 2024) the Github project page was made read-only and archived. News is sure to drain the colour from those who avidly use this tool, as it has proven popular with those seeing to personalise the libadwaita stylesheet to better suit their tastes. But this move isn’t entirely out of the blue. In April, Gradience added a note to top of its Github page mentioning that the app was “looking for a maintainer(s)! if you know Python and GTK4/Libadwaita and :sys_more_orange:

  4. Gradience, the popular theming app with over 1.3k stars on GitHub, is looking for a maintainer!

If you are familiar with Python and GTK4/libadwaita and are interested in becoming a Gradience maintainer or contributing to the project, please chip in on Matrix or Discord!

The current maintainer has been inactive for quite some time. In February, after half a year of inactivity, they announced that they were working on Gradience again, but no progress has been made since then.

  5. Ah, I understand what people mean now when they say "#Gnome always messes something up". With GTK4, the cool flatpak app, #gradience, is no longer helpful. As you can see by the screenshot, the sidebar of GTK4 applications are not a consistent theme. Thanks, Gnome. xD

If you don't know, with gradience, you used to be able to override the GTK3 applications. The whole calendar app should be that blueish grey color but not anymore! #linux

  6. I need to give a shoutout to #gradience, which has made theming GNOME incredibly simple. Since the last time I used it they have added the ability to automatically create and set a GNOME Shell theme, as well as create a qt5ct theme! Having a consistent theme on Linux has never been this easy!

  7. #Gradience 0.8.0-beta1 has been released with:
    - Shell Theming
    - Keyboard Shortcuts
    - Ability to switch between GitHub and JsDelivr for Presets
    - More plugins (Mailspring and Qt5ct)
    - Improved Icons and UI

Thanks everyone who made this possible!! @GradienceTeam @Daudix, tfuxu, all contributors and translators!!

  8. Have redrawn #Gradience welcome illustration for next major release :blobcat_owo:

  9. I must admit that when it comes to theming it's a nightmare... The limitations imposed by are not a laughing matter... Though we have some tools like it's not all roses... Stick with what they offer or suffer...

  10. @geotechland I guess so, I found out existed just yesterday

  11. Want to Customise Libadwaita? Try ‘Gradience’

Some see the emergence of libadwaita as an intentional roadblock designed to get in the way of end-user customisation — but a new app added to Flathub this week proves otherwise. Gradience is a nimble desktop app written in Python, GTK4, and libadwaita. Using it you can change each and every colour that appears in the libadwaita theme (as well as the adw-gtk3 theme, should you have it installed). We’re talking background app colour, button colour, toggles, switches, radio boxes, and sliders; menus; dialogs; pop-overs; drop-down lists… There’s even an advanced tab where custom CSS code can be applied. It busts :sys_more_orange:
