Fun #mbta fact, if you are packed up against the electronic farebox on a crowded #GLX train, and have #google wallet on your phone, it will automatically bill a fare to your phone's stored card every few seconds for the full duration of your trip.
This is the second case I've run into where the #Cubic electronic fareboxes have charged a card at remarkable range (the previous time my work expense account got billed for a random T ride). -

First is from the Quincy House. 1776.
The second from the #GLX 2024.

I love these windows, and I love the art version of these windows.
The #GLX station in #SomervilleMA at Gilman Square #MBTA station.
They saved that old building, which I noticed once has musicians silhouettes on the upper floor. And you can see them in the images on the station platform version too.

Hey #SomervilleMA: heard about the Green Line closures on the news, but nobody mentioned a #GLX part.
"What about the Green Line extension?
Though not a full suspension, the Green Line extension to Somerville and Medford will close daily from 8:45 p.m. through the end of service from Monday to Dec. 10, while crews work to reposition rails the T says were constructed incorrectly....
Shuttles will run between North Station and Medford/Tufts but not to Union Square."

Despite breathless reporting by our local media outlets, I continue to not see the big deal about the gauge issue for the #GLX .
The problem is a bummer but it sounds super fixable, and folks are making a big deal over a nothingburger story. Folks seem to be getting outraged for reasons I don't understand. Y'all had bad requirements document and now have bad results, so to be safe you've got to move a bunch of rail over a eighth inch. #MBTA #MAPoli

@Dseitz I went to a meeting pre-pandemic that was about Gilman Sq #GLX designs, but someone there wanted to re-litigate the Winter Hill bus/bike lanes again and I wanted to shriek.
But that also reminds me: I need to submit a comment on EV charging and I included that they shouldn't be a barrier to bike lanes....

It has been a month since the formal ribbon-cutting on the #SomervilleMA Community Path extension (and even longer since people started walking and riding on it)! Folks in the area, have you been enjoying this new way to get across Somerville alongside the #GLX?

The #CommunityPath ribbon cutting was a typical #MApoli speeches sort of thing, even bringing Mike Capuano out, who was impressed that Philip Eng even wanted the #MBTA job.
But not every city has #HONK. Yay tubas!
And that hard-working reporter from @gbhnews was everywhere.

I went to the #SomervilleMA #GLX Community Path formal ribbon cutting (for the path people have been using for a month) and unexpectedly got interviewed 😳
I talked about being excited for the benefits of more bike and pedestrian infrastructure, but also my desire for greater transparency from the city government and #MBTA, especially when projects like this fall behind schedule.

Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 28, at 1 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine where the Community Path Extension begins on the eastern side of where the path intersects with Lowell Street."

It's announcing that there will be a closure of part of the Community Path Extension (#CPX) for some months, but don't worry, there will be a two-way cycle-lane detour on a nearby street to replace that segment.
Which is great, don't get me wrong, but the CPX *hasn't opened yet*! The city has been very clear on this.
