I'm starting to feel that harvest/waning season energy. As I wandered through all the gardens today, I pulled out plants that weren't doing great, removed invasive vines from the budding food forest, uprooted cosmos plants that would never produce flowers (seeds were too old), thinned out the cornflower plants (the bees love them, but they can get out of control -- they are considered "naturalized" instead of "invasive" but still), and as I expand my wildflower garden, I'll be planting more #NativeWildflowers, not just the showy ones (I scattered some white and red clover seeds today). I'm quite pleased to see the #FourSisters garden thriving -- good soil (lots of compost), and leaving some groundcover (wild strawberries and clover) really helped to keep things together. A third corn stalk tasseled out today as well.

The perennials (native and non-native) that I planted last year have loved our warm temperatures but we're headed for a cold snap. Too early to plant seedlings yet but my bare root natives should arrive any day now. My clematis (non-native) is doing well. I just hope the colder temps won't do much damage. All plants are well rooted so they should survive just fine.#flowers #FlowerPhotography #GardeningMastodon #Gardenupdate #gardenupdates

Transplanted 1200 onions, 4000 more to go. But look at this gorgeous black radish!
