  1. #GardenUpdate

Feeling like the start of Spring. Taking stock of what survived the winter.

Garden is growing nicely - bluebells and dandilions flowering, and the first of the Green Alkanet is flowering. Lots of bees. Some nice violets in the grass. 2/3 rhubarbs survived the winter. As did chard, beetroot and perhaps another leafy green thing.

Pulled out a few alkanets to give some other things more of a chance.

Oh and Rosemary, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Mint (in the pot out front) all doing well.

Plum blossom was good, now going over.

  5. #GardenUpdate 1/? from this year. We have a good deal to get caught up on, so let’s begin.

It appears as though only two of the six Purple Passion asparagus crowns that I sowed in the fall, survived the winter. They were rotten when they got to me and I was heartbroken. #DisabilityTax

Peonies are doing well, serviceberry is blooming, and slowly but surely I will make this garden pretty.

  7. Peas & beans coming on a treat! 🌱🌿 Watching the garden thrive is so rewarding. Oh the fresh, homegrown goodness that's just around the corner. Nothing beats the taste of veggies you grew yourself! 🥒🥕 #GardenUpdate #HomeGrown #GreenThumb #Organic #FreshProduce #GardeningLife

  8. Deep freeze coming tomorrow night! We've been abnormally dry, so trying to water what most needs water (mostly baby fruit trees planted this year) without hurting the well. We haven't had a frost here yet so the plants aren't going to like the quick drop down to 23F. The sweet potatoes were once again a bust this year or I was sloppy harvesting, gotta remember to plant them with more phosphorus. Yesterday, did manage to plant a few dozen daffodils for fruit trees vole protection, and almost finished planting all the native perennials I grew from seed. I have officially planted enough things that I will allow myself to buy more plants!! #gardenupdate #gardening #zone6

The perennials (native and non-native) that I planted last year have loved our warm temperatures but we're headed for a cold snap. Too early to plant seedlings yet but my bare root natives should arrive any day now. My clematis (non-native) is doing well. I just hope the colder temps won't do much damage. All plants are well rooted so they should survive just fine.
