Ich habe die #FritzBox wieder in Betrieb genommen, einzig, um darüber einen #USB-Stick als zentralen Datenspeicher verfügbar zu machen. Grundsätzlich funktioniert das. Jedoch manipuliert die FritzBox den Zeitstempel der Dateien auf dem USB-Stick. Synchronisationssoftware, wie #FreeFileSync, wird eine andere Uhrzeit vorgespielt, als sie tatsächlich gespeichert ist. Das ist natürlich ein Unding und macht derlei Vorgänge völlig unbrauchbar.
FritzBox wieder abgeklemmt. Spart dann wenigstens Strom.
Aber mal ehrlich, was soll so ein Schwachsinn?!

Seems like #FreeFileSync, the tool I use to sync to my cold storage backups became non-free software with the newest release.
It used to be released under the #GPL, but in the last version, they stuck some weird non-commercial clause and do-not-modify clauses, which is in direct contradiction to the GPL terms written below.
As it stands, now the EULA has a self-contradiction in it. The Debian packager is already in the forum.

@tux Das Syncen der wichtigsten Bereiche aus dem Home-Ordner übernimmt aktuell #freefilesync - ggf. würde ich auf lange Sicht aber mit Skripten auf #rsync schwenken. 💾
Für versionierte Backups bin ich noch am Tüfteln... Leider werfen #backintime und vor allem #kup, das interne und elegant verankerte #backup tool von #kde, noch Fehler - Zweiteres würde mir am besten gefallen. 🥺
Daher laufen die Backups momentan über #duplicati - was m.M. auch ein geniales Tool ist! 💪

Hier noch ein kurzes Video zum Ablauf.

FreeFileSync verfügt ja über ein "Ordner-Überwachungs-Tool" = Realsync. Damit kann man auch USB-Medien überwachen, was u. a. ideal für Foto-Sticks ist:
Schließt man einen USB-Speicher mit einem bestimmten Namen an, so schaut Realsync automatisch in den vorgegebenen Pfaden nach neuen Dokumenten, Fotos usw.
Wird das Tool fündig, so löst es die entsprechende Aktion aus - etwa die Kopie in ein Backup-Verzeichnis usw.

There's one catch: The donation edition covers only 10 devices, and above that you need a business licence, but due to a bug, every Linux device is counted as a new device after rebooting, and unused devices can only be removed after a certain cool-off period.
Unfortunately, I reboot my Linux computer more frequently than I can remove duplicates from my #FreeFileSync licence. This means that I run out of FFS licences within a week, just by rebooting the only computer that I installed FFS on.

Meine Dateien und Ordner auf dem PC möchte ich nach dem Sync beliebig erweitern, löschen usw, dabei aber die Ordnerstruktur immer wahren... Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, Ordner zu leeren und diese selbst aber beizubehalten? -
Hat jemand Ideen, wie ich meinen gemounteten #webdav Zugang unter #linux automatisiert in meinen #paperlessngx #consume Ordner #synchronisieren kann? 🙏
#freefilesync startet auf dem #raspberrypi die Installation nicht, scheint ein bekanntes Problem zu sein... 🤔

The #microSD card in my phone has gotten corrupted.
My (dusty) Windows7 laptop says the disk format is exFat and that the disk is now good.
Pretty sure the Android phone wants Fat32, so how did it ever work in the phone?
Used #FreeFileSync to backup the card's files to a laptop. But some files not transferable.
Used #chkdsk but AOK there.Hours taken by this #TrashyTech so far?
Three? Five? Getting other things done but ....So now trying #DiskDrill.

How cool is this workflow:
Use FreeFileSync to sync a local folder to a folder on my web site through FTP. That local folder is also synced through Dropbox or the like, so I can edit files on either computer or my little eink tablet, and those files will update. Then whenever I want, I just hit go on FreeFileSync and it updates the files on my web site. Works so nicely with a Flat File CMS. If I write on my Palm PDA I can use FreeFileSync to sync that from the SD card to a local file too, that fits into the same system.

Attempting to copy a folder of 3d scan data:
#WindowsExplorer - please wait, it's going to take me several hours to 'discover' everything in this folder before I can even begin to start copying this folder.
Open-source #FreeFileSync tool - sure thing chief, all this checks out I'll start copying this now.
