Sinn Féin party has voted to support a ban on #foxhunting in Ireland.
The issue was hotly debated at the party’s Ard Fheis in Belfast last night, with a clear divide on display within the party on the issue.

Ross Cordery, Wayne Greggory and James Parish of the Vale of Taunton and Banwell Harriers Hunt have been charged with hunting a wild mammal with dogs - an offence under the Hunting Act 2004.
This prosecution comes after Somerset Hunt Saboteurs‘ drone caught the hunt chasing a fox at Chilton Trinity on 26 November last year

Less than a week after the government published its long-awaited consultation on banning the smokescreen of trail hunting, three members of the Vale of Taunton & Banwell Harriers have been charged under the Hunting Act 2004.
The three are: Ross Cordery, 45 of Highbridge, Wayne Greggory, 48 of Taunton, and James Parish, 31 of Uffcume in Devon

Took my #Meshcore radio out on break this afternoon to a spot on the downward slope behind my office building, facing away from town. Tried my luck. Surprisingly, I got out of the hole and heard from 3 repeaters way over the hill. How is this possible?
WELL, my theory is that I was reflecting off the office building on the next block and catching a great angle. Wow! I hadn't considered that was a thing, but that sort of trick is done in #foxhunting all the time! This gives me ideas.

Clacton MP and the current leader of Reform UK Nigel Farage, is a friend of #foxhunting.
This Boxing Day he joined his friends at the Old Surrey Burstow and West Kent Hunt at their performative meet at Chiddingstone Castle, in Kent.

He's just a regular bloke who likes a fag & a beer, oh & watching foxes being torn to shreds (if he could). I don't know anyone who goes out fox hunting at the weekends, it's not a normal thing to do.

Very pleased to see that the government is looking at banning trail hunting.
If there are legitimate devotees of the sport of trail hunting, then tough. They've had 20 years to clean up their act and stop it being used as a cover for illegal fox hunting.
They haven't. Whether that's because they can't or just don't want to, I don't know, but it's irrelevant anyway. Either way, trail hunting still leads to animal cruelty.

Shameful. The bill to ban fox hunting in Ireland, proposed by People Before Profit-Solidarity TD Ruth Coppinger, has been defeated in the Dáil.
The bill was defeated by a large majority.

A Parliament-based campaign group and Labour MP Neil Duncan-Jordan are intensifying efforts to strengthen the ban on illegal foxhunting in England and Wales.
Mr Duncan-Jordan plans to introduce a private member's Bill in the new year to close loopholes in the 2004 Hunting Act, specifically targeting trail-hunting.

Four more arrests have been made as part of an investigation into alleged illegal fox hunt.
It follows a meeting involving the Coniston Foxhounds and Teme Valley Hunt in Ambleside, in the Lake District, on 8 November.
Cumbria Police said three men and one woman were arrested in the Powys area of Wales on Thursday. They were held on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
It takes the total number of arrests to 16 and all have been bailed.

So #FoxHunting has been banned in the UK, including England, Scotland, and Wales, (but it is still legal in Northern Ireland). Undoubtedly it happened due to decades of protests and public opinion progressing most parts of the UK out of the barbarian age.
Meanwhile In #Australia, it is legal on private property. A backwoods tradition that needs to go in the dustbin of history, though of course, Australia is always behind when it comes to progress.
Yes, the #fox in Australia is an invasive species (purposefully brought here for hunting and or killing rabbits which again were brought in on purpose), and it is doing untold damage to the native fauna and flora of Australia. But perhaps there are better ways of protecting our native wildlife than staging elaborate elitist "hunts" and pretending we are still in the Middle Ages, riding poor tired horses, and training dozens of dogs to kill a fox, an animal that never asked or wanted to be transported thousands of kilometres from its native inhabitant.
