14 years ago today @christi3k and I celebrated our wedding! It was incredibly stressful for a whole raft of reasons and every year since we’ve celebrated not having to throw a wedding!
One of the stresses was marriage inequality, we wouldn’t have a legally recognized marriage for several more years. We had registered as domestic partners in our state, but we don’t recognize that date as having any special significance. I recall saying to the county clerk, “Who celebrates getting registered? It sounds like we’ve done something wrong!”
Despite that and other assorted nonsense and BS we went ahead with what we’ve come to refer to as our “spiritual wedding” and it’s the date we really count from. I’m really grateful to continue to grow and share my life with my wife!
