  1. Tackling the big fallen apple tree.

The trunk was hollow with rot inside and yet it made all those (small and sour) apples.

In between, a lot of chainsaw problems. Oiler blocked because some wood chips got in there somehow and then when I fixed that the next pull the stupid double-recoil starter broke.

Luckily its a standard Zenoah clone and lookit, the entire recoil assembly from a donor body fit right on it. Style upgrade, too! 😁

And it has normal pull start now. I hated that double recoil "feature".

The tree had a load of branches and fell on another two trees breaking another big branch, so its a mess to clear out and a lot of branches to drag out to the now huge piles.

  6. Jenga sidequest. Got all the old alder split and stacked, just a few huge chunks of knotty old birch left.

  7. Been thumbing around some concrete beams and then played some jenga.

The firewood store got expanded a little and some of the beams had sunk into the soft soil under the weight of the firewood stacked on them and needed rebedding.

The new thumb was extremely useful doing this and I managed to do it without either knocking over the stacked firewood or the roof.

Then stacked the split pile onto there so it can finish drying.

  8. Today's work. Sorry, murky low light photo, finished at sunset as usual.

    Still space for more!

Can see the difference between birch and alder nicely there. The orangey stuff on the right is alder. Slightly less energy than birch but easier to light. Good firewood and what mostly grows in our forest as it thrives in the swampy parts near the river.

Those last two stacks are from a few fallen trees that were blocking the forest road.
