@Moss that's another topic I think would be great to cover on events like the #fediday. I guess that was barely discussed.

Indeed, what you pointed out is a reason why several tribes don't stay here. And it's challenging for the dominant tribe which leads the #Fediverse to see beyond its own bubble.

It's amazing that we have folks from the traditional German media like @3sat, @tagesschau or @NDR attending the #Fediday , but I can't find any mention to the event on their #fediverse accounts?

Did I just miss it or are they afraid of the (still) atypical?

Hello, #Fediday attendees! I'm curious: Have any presentations discussed the main challenges we have in the #Fediverse so far? Which ones were addressed, and by whom?

I ask because, in similar communities I've joined, I've generally felt that they were quite exclusivist and didn't try to integrate those from different groups or with different opinions.

Es war schwer, mich vom #Fediday los zu reißen aber nun ist es mir gelungen. Und jetzt freue ich mich über die Vorstellung, gleich mit diesem Post auf der Fediwall dort aufzutauchen und damit irgendwie doch noch da zu sein.

@plinubius Zumal die Lösung "Deutsche/Europäische Konzerne stellen geschlossene Plattformen zur Verfügung" mit MeinVZ ja schon erprobt wurde. Das lief ja richtig gut. Dann wurde es halt von Meta aufgekauft und schon wars wieder vorbei.
Warum setzt man weiter auf diesen Weg, wenn jeder erfolgreiche kommerzielle Versuch, den Hetzmedien europäische Konkurrenz zu machen, auf diesem Weg sofort wieder zum Ende gebracht werden kann.

I wonder if anyone will discuss the transnational growth of the far-right movement (1) or Germany's change in vote on the Chat Control proposal at #Fediday today. (2)

The #Fediverse can be an important tool for discussing both topics. While most people still use big tech tools to spread disinformation and undermine democracies, we must continue to engage with those who are not easily swayed by an obsolete model that finances fascism. (3)

If I could be there, that'd be the main topics I would be discussing.

P. S. Yesterday, while I was explaining the concept of federation to some young people, a young Indian woman asked, "So why should I leave Instagram?" To my left was an Egyptian who works at one of the major tech companies, and I said we should be careful of potential spies. I was glad she could connect the dots on the question of who was kissing up an actual powerful dictator wannabe at the US presidential inauguration.
