  2. Day 30

Was 2025 a good drama year for you?

Yes, I think it was good. I watched a lot of shows and enjoyed most of them. One of them even saved me from myself at some point. So yeah, I’d say it was a good drama year for me

  3. Day 29

    A 2026 drama you’re excited for

My answer is similar to Day 22. I don't really know when shows are scheduled to air until a few weeks beforehand… so I'm just letting myself be surprised by upcoming releases

  4. Day 28

An industry change you want to happen

I think there are so many things to say about needed changes, but I don't feel articulate enough right now. One big one, though: maybe stop reinforcing (deliberately or not) invasive and disrespectful fan behavior

  5. Day 31: Your favourite drama of 2025. #EYDC2025

    #cDrama #kDrama #jDrama #twDrama

This was really hard. For this one question, I've decided to limit myself to Dramas from 2025, and have ended up calling a tie:
For feeling thoroughly RIGHT to me, right to the end
    #cDrama #DearEnemy which I wrote about here:

  6. #EYDC2025 Day 30
Was 2025 a good drama year for you?

Yes, it's good! To be honest, it's rare for me to say that [Year] was a "bad drama year". This is mostly because I watch across a wide range of genres. Some years, the xianxia genre is great (this is the case for me this year). Other years, modern dramas were better. When you watch a wide variety of genres, you'll never rum out of good dramas to watch.

    #cDrama #kDrama #jDrama #twDrama

    The numbers don't lie.
2025 was emphatically NOT a good Drama year for me:

It was a GREAT Drama year for me. The most remarkable element? The rise of the Middle Kingdom - reaching previously untouched completion ratios and a staggering average completed score

  8. #EYDC2025 Day 29
    A 2026 drama you're excited for

Against the Current. This Ming dynasty drama starring Liu Xueyi and Tan Songyun looks so good, it's raising my hopes against my will :P

    There's only one 2026 Drama I know about for sure that I'm excited to see, and it's a #jDrama - and a second season!😱

Really hoping that lightning does strike twice and we get a second serving of sweetness and GREAT food from these two

  10. #EYDC2025 Day 28
An industry change you want to happen

Less reliance on traffic actors. It's actually depressing sometimes how some dramas shoot to the top of the charts purely because of the lead actors' fandom klout. Many of these dramas are poorly made, and the story is "factory assembly line".

For many fandoms as long as their gege wins the data game, they're satisfied. Meanwhile, "passerbys" get turned off by their shenanigans (which often includes "controlling" discussions about the drama by reporting/abusing users who dare to criticise the drama. Many casual viewers no longer trust "reviews" on social media because it's so dominated by fandoms.

But, tbh, this is mostly idol dramas. Non-idol #CDramas are usually not plagued by these problems.

It is actually no wonder that CDramas are experiencing a "winter" now. It's not just because of strict regulations and censorship - it's also because production companies are lazy. As long as these fandoms exist to prop up the show, they don't bother with good storytelling or production quality. Worse, they often give in to the demands of the actors' agencies, so the story is often manipulated or tinkered with to make the idol look better.

Each time I switch from watching an idol drama to one of those that are aired on China's TV, or those not starring traffic actors, the difference in quality is stark! Idol dramas can and should put in the same effort, but there spending too much money spent on marketing and expensive actors, so storytelling and production quality seemed to always take a back seat. Why? Because at the end of the day, whatever product they dish out, the fandoms will be there to spend money.

Yeah, I just want all of this to go away. It's toxic.

    #cDrama #kDrama #jDrama #twDrama

Not one, but two, and they are both relevant to all the tagged Drama countries:

    1. Humane, civilised working conditions for the crews - INCLUDING ACTUALLY PAYING THEM ( especially looking at YOU, #kDrama )

    2. Investing in skilled human translators for subtitling, resisting the allure of AI slop.
