Victor Boonterdtoon, from #ShineTheSeries. Broke my heart, but I loved him so much. I knew how the story was gonna end for him because student and historical context. I loved that he knew the risk and still decided to take it because it was what he believed in.
And Ramphueng, from my beloved #Khemjira. Her grudge and rage saved me, in a way. So yeah... I liked the way the conflict with her, a powerful vengeful ghost, was resolved. I liked that she wasn't really forgiven by Khem, because she caused a lot of pain for many lifetimes, but she was given the chance to move on and find peace.

You know how in movies, it doesn't matter how time passes, when they show the moon it is always full?
Well I just "almost" finished watching the series #khemjira and when they showed the moon it was always half-full. ALWAYS. As if they had only one day of filming to get moon shots.
So I decided to touch grass and get out of the house, and guess what. Today there is a half-moon! :blobrollingeyes:

Learning that string is used in rituals there as opposed to paper in Japan. Also learning about the similarities between resentful energy in Chinese fantasy and the harmful energy of wandering ghosts in Thailand. I just finished reading #Khemjira, with only a few of the extras left. Now I'm incredibly curious to see how they adapted the final chapters, as they contain some epic moments. Can't wait for Saturday 😭

There are only two episodes of #Khemjira left, and I'm a bit nervous. It's been consistently good for 10 weeks, and sometimes shows don't stick the landing, but I'm hopeful with this one.
I'm also reading the novel and I'm surprised by how quickly I'm getting through it. It's comparatively shorter than the regular danmei I've been reading for the past two years, so that explains (in part) why... There's also the part of me being obsessed and wanting to know more. I like that now I know the names of the desserts I saw in the series, and the names of rituals, and the book actually includes some of the names of the khatas, and a brief footnote explaining what they're used for.
I'm not sure if I want to finish the book before the drama ends, tho.
Reading the novel also confirms that the series is a very good adaptation. The screenwriters really understood the assignment. One of them talks about it during the first BTS clip and mentions that different media has different "grammar" and that's key... and I think more shows should have good teams of screenwriters. But one can only dream.

I started reading #Khemjira, and in one fragment, a character goes into shock after being frightened by something he saw (a spirit). A footnote explains the concept of khwan, which is similar to the soul, but a person has multiple khwans in different parts of their body.
The story suggests the shocked character likely lost his khwan, and another character performs a prayer to call it back to his body.
This reminded me of when people where I'm from go to "ser curados de espanto", and also of the different souls mentioned in MDZS (iirc).
