  6. Just from playing around with my M5Stack Atom Lite (which arrived 2 days ago), I don't believe ESPresense and voice together are an option. At least not on the Atom Lite.

I'll give it a shot on the Atom Echo, but I suspect the same results. I don't need it as a voice unit (and it isn't that good of one anyway).

Also, ESPresense is a bit of a pain to set up. We'll see if it's worth it!#ESPresence #Homeassistant

  10. Guys, does #espresence work for you with latest iOS 17 in homekit? I believe that ble identification is randomized now...

  12. Playing around with my #HomeAssistant setup and some smart thermostats, and considering where I want to go from here.

Currently, I am running two Fritz!DECT thermostats (a 301 and a 302), and they both work fine. However, I don't necessarily want to lock myself into the #Fritz Ecosystem forever, and the thermostats are quite pricey.

I only see two alternatives at the moment: Go with a #Zigbee thermostat with #Zigbee2mqtt, or try a Bluetooth thermostat like the eqiva eQ-3, which are cheaper, but require me to also set up some #espHome bluetooth proxy devices. However, since I also wanted to look into #espresence, the bluetooth proxies wouldn't be too terrible a price to pay, as they could pull double duty for both, I guess.

So, since I had some success with these things, I'm asking the #SmartHome community here on Mastodon: Any recommendations on where to go from here? Stick to what works and shell out the money for the Fritz hardware? Or is there a specific, easy to use and affordable Zigbee Thermostat you can recommend? I'm a bit afraid of going the Bluetooth route, as there seem to be only a low two-digit number of installations using the relevant integration...

Based in Germany and using a "normal" radiator (the Fritz devices fit without any adapters, but I don't know what the exact type name of the threading is).

  17. @VersionBen6999 @homeassistant

You might also be able to do this with #ESPresence since you've already got the #ESP32 boards you need for it.

It’d be great if they made a cheap zigbee CO2 sensor so we could embed a #esp32 running #espresence and use the co2 sensor as a case and parasitize its power supply

I have a couple I modded with #Tasmota on, and since I had one in my parts bin, one has a BME688 I put in while I had the #vindriktning opened up.

I wrote it up at unixorn.github.io/post/add-sma but the hardest part was not stripping the screws in the plastic case.

Works great with #HomeAssistant and the tasmota integration.

I like the display on the vindstryka but I don't need another air sensor. Using them to house and power an ESP32 with #ESPresence is appealing though.

You could set up an #ESPresence node next to your front door with the sensitivity dialed down to one or two meters, then only unlock the door when the facial recognition and the espresence for one of your phones trigger at the same time.

Very cool. It'd mix nicely with and to be able to hang a unit off of an ethernet jack and not have to have a wall wart.

Sweet! Though it did deprive you of the fun of modding them yourself 😉

I wonder if I can put on them and still scrape the air quality & i2c sensors - the enclosure is unobtrusive and looks good, might as well get multiple uses out of them.
