On this episode from Season 9 of Solarpunk Presents, we sit down with Frank Holleman from Fork Ranger - the fact is that the top 10% richest people on the planet are responsible for a large majority of consumer emissions and so eating for the planet can make a difference when we know that 1/3rd of our emissions are based on our food system. Frank breaks down the details of what it means to make great food choices, and that it's not all or nothing; you can take many paths towards being more aware of how you eat and what it means. We can always choose to eat foods that require less energy to produce, vegetables versus energy intensive meat, even if the vegetable is shipped. We also play a fun game with randomized ingredients and Frank gives us some surprising recipes!

People keep asking me one question, so here is the answer, whole: the history, the intention, the meaning, the being, and, at the end, the me. "What's a Boodle Boy?" I get the question at dinner tables, in podcast mail, in the pause after a lecture when someone has finally worked up the nerve. My business cards claim the title. My websites announce it. A consultancy of my own wears the name. The asker usually half-expects a punchline, because the phrase sounds like something a vaudeville comic would shout while falling off a stage, and some people assume the whole thing is a pun on Boles. Those vowels help, I admit. History does the heavy lifting. The honest answer needs a Sunday night in 1974, a Dutch probate record from 1699, a safe-deposit vault stuffed with bribe money in St. Louis, a candy raid at West Point, and a banana leaf piled with garlic rice somewhere on Luzon. It also needs a teenaged cadet holding a pot of coffee. Pour yourself a cup, and I will lay the whole boodle on the table. […] -

Interesting to finally hear someone talk sense about consciousness, but I am only five minutes in to this #podcast #episode.
No conflation with memory, rational thought, confabulation, perception, #cognitivePsychology primitives like that … the usual confusions people have about what consciousness is.I'll be surprised to find myself agreeing with a postulation we're in a simulation, but I'm listening.
As I've written, now they're getting into consciousness as a substrate for the universe, quantum theory, and so on. Meh. Trying too hard to understand something fundamentally obvious, but okay. Still listening…
