  6. I talk a lot about transparency and its importance for product teams. I had a conversation with one of my clients, and we came to the conclusion that they wanted to be more transparent but lacked the structure to be more transparent.

    Here are a few things that can help:

    ✍️ Use public channels to ask questions - interested people can see what's being discussed and potentially chime in with additional information

    🔁 Repeat yourself - Sharing something that's daily business for you does not mean saying it once is enough. If you don't feel like a broken record, you didn't say it enough.

    📃 Document stuff - Give people a chance to find information easily on their own. When working on new initiatives, I would create a Confluence page and continue adding to it so you could follow my whole thought process if you wanted to.

  8. PMs leave your ego at the door and do these 8 things instead!

    🤝 Collaborate with your team on ideas, and trust their expertise and experience
    🧪 Give your team room to explore and experiment
    😅 Allow them to fail
    🎓 Learn from them
    🥳 Celebrate your team, and give them credit
    💬 Have an open feedback culture (this needs psychological safety)
    💪 Take action based on their feedback
    🤓 Be human

  10. When it comes to product mgmt tools, I believe they can be helpful in regard to your process/work flow.
    BUT only if it resembles what works for you and your team, you should not model your workflow after the tool you are using.
    Personally, I like my tools how I like my video games - not one strict path, open world and room side quests 🤷🏻‍♀️ For that, online whiteboards like MURAL are actually great.

I am a passionate product person working in coaching and consulting so you’ll see a lot about #ProductManagement #ProductStrategy #ProductLeadership and #EmpoweredTeams and probably a bit about #Roadmaps and maybe #OKRs - I believe that #StrategicSkills are more important than frameworks and I will talk about that as well 😌

  12. Communication is so important as a product manager. A large part of our job is to create an information balance between all stakeholders - business partners, design partners, and engineering partners!

    We don't make all the decisions, we facilitate good decision-making!

  13. There are other wins a product manager can have besides shipping something. Here are some intangible things that can be hard to measure but really help your team:

    🌱 Nurture team health
    👉🏼 Set strategy, direction, purpose
    🔍 Discover & experiment
    🚧 Improve structure & processes
    🎓 Educate, coach, grow
    🛑 Remove blockers

    Sometimes I need to remind myself that these things are what success can look like, especially when working as a consultant/coach.
