  3. EMO REVIVAL NIGHT @ SKATEPARK HAARLEM - OK.KO + all dogs go to heaven + Gezamenlijk Douchen

Skatepark Haarlem, Saturday, March 21 at 07:30 PM GMT+1

Nostalgie overrated?

all dogs go to heaven is één van de vooraanstaande emo-acts uit Nederland.

    • 🕰️ Wanneer: 21 maart 2026 vanaf 19:30

    • 📍 Waar: Minckelersweg 30, Haarlem

  5. I was just talking to my friend who moved back to the city, he's taking his kid to a Rocky Horror showing in a couple weeks - it's at the Park Theatre which is one of the old movie houses I went to as a kid, and is now kind of a bar/theatre hybrid, I saw Uli Jon Roth and James McMurtry there in recent years.

Anyways it's Emo night, apparently, after the RHPS showing, it's sold out but I briefly considered joining them, cause Rocky is my home that I have not visited in years. But had it not been sold out, I would have to get my Red Seal Hairstylist wife, @lakelaur, to turn my hippie mop into a tight Emo stylee for the night, with a bit of running mascara to complete the ensemble. I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille.

And then I just thought to myself, remembering how much The Internet At Large seemed to really, really hate Emo and those who were Emotive, during the early years of the InterJugend movement...

and I mean, of course they hated music that celebrated emotional purgation and vulnerability, during those important early days of the cult, which requires such Rugged Individuality and contempt for human emotion from its adherents.

And the haircut, it really triggered their (non-existent, remember) emotional responses, I recall well. I was far too old to be an active participant in such things, it would very much have been Buscemi stuff. Though I may have been known to have made some jokes about a certain singer of a song about waking up and eating cereal, I might have compared her voice to the sound of a 90s modem connecting.

    B-Dong, B-Ding, B-Dong, B-Ding,
    Gotta get dongdingdong, ding

But anyways, some of that Emo music was pretty good, in the final analysis, you ask me. I didn't know very many Emos, but every actively anti-Emo dude I ever met, back in the day, well, was a fucking nazi.

So my point is, #Musicians, how about we all make some Neo Emo music? Cause I cannot think of anything that would trigger these edgy boys who are required by sacred covenant to suppress their emotions, I cannot think of anything more likely to cause the dam to burst forth, than to hear the music of their adolescence come back to haunt them, more emotional than ever, and catch on.
