Cool. I just tested #ElementX with a fresh #matrix.org account, and what shall I say: Not a single thing works flawlessly. Not even starting a simple 1:1 chat with another user works without major quirks (initial message is missing and never shows up; Element X doesn't find the DM room and starts a second room when trying to verify the other user).

Good that @element is sunsetting the classic #ElementAndroid 🙄.

@Blase Love the idea of #Dendrite / #Conduit. My #Matrix instance is for my family, including some fairly low-tech family members, so reliability is the number 1 concern. If it breaks I may never get them back from #Facebook Messenger / #Skype etc.

I'm assuming that Synapse would be the most reliable as it seems to be the most developed...

That said, #Element video calls with my mother rarely seem to work, unless I use #ElementWeb instead of #ElementAndroid.

Please update your #matrix clients: https://matrix.org/blog/2021/09/13/vulnerability-disclosure-key-sharing

If you are using versions from https://f-droid.org, I recommend to switch to a different one, at least until they catch up with building the fixed versions (it's unclear how long that will take. Might be one or multiple days).

An updated version of #Schildichat can instead be installed from the author's #FDroid repo here: https://schildi.chat/android/install-from-sc-fdroid/

Updated (FOSS) versions of #ElementAndroid are currently not yet available.
