  1. LA Times: Key takeaways from investigation into Edison’s role in the deadly Eaton fire

".. New details revealed in court show that critical fire prevention equipment needed repair before the blaze and that vegetation under the tower where it ignited hadn’t been trimmed for years.

Investigators say Edison kept power flowing through mountain transmission lines despite “life‑threatening” Santa Ana winds and documented multiple equipment violations.

With the first negligence trial set for January and Newsom-backed laws limiting utility wildfire liability, survivors warn California is eroding corporate incentives to prevent future catastrophic blazes.

  2. I mean, I’d just sue Southern California Edison for invasion of privacy for repeatedly flying drones around my neighborhood, but I doubt they’ll even exist after the Eaton Fire survivors get finished with them.

  3. PASADENA, California-- The deadly 2025 #EatonFire was caused by Southern California Edison equipment, fire officials said in a report released Tuesday.

A utility's idle transmission tower caused the fire that killed 19.

  4. In article: "...SoCal Edison has claimed in lawsuits earlier this year that Los Angeles County agencies failed to send timely evacuation warnings to residents in east and west Altadena. Eighteen of the 19 people who died in the fire lived in west Altadena...."

  6. @odd Yes. They would like help rebuilding, although I have no idea how much of the collection they were able to save. thebunnymuseum.com/

I was actually visiting the cycle shop next door. Husband & wife affair, those two places.

  7. I discovered a huge number of photos I uploaded and didn't go back and tag, years ago.

I've already spent too many hours today tagging and saving and organizing when I should be doing other things, but I found this photo of the disabled parking sign at The Bunny Museum in Altadena, California...several years before the #EatonFire

  10. LA Times: New evidence confirms Edison’s idle line ignited Eaton fire, lawyers say

"... New surveillance video and utility data bolster claims that a century-old, idle Edison transmission line ignited last year’s Eaton fire, which killed 19 people and displaced thousands in Altadena, lawyers say.
Lawyers for insurers are seeking a ruling holding Edison financially liable for the fire. They point to how two flashes on a video from a Pasadena swim club correspond to the timing of two faults, three seconds apart, that Edison recorded on its transmission lines just before the fire ignited.
Edison has not accepted responsibility for igniting the fire, saying its own investigation and a separate inquiry by state and county officials is continuing.

  11. Ah, LA Times article completely backing my assertion that YES, if you are posting wildfires, you should be posting the address of reported fires, EVEN IF not confirmed specifically by an "official evacuation notice". Because that information is critical to help citizens (as well as firefighters, etc.) understand where fast moving wildfires are going.

  12. Read the exec summary. When it states race and socioeconomic factors NEVER played a role, AND first responders only thought of lives to save

What I hear is, the words structural racism are too hard to say, type, or address, and that people "don't see color"

One of the biggest shifts I experienced was when I challenged the idea "I don't see color"

  13. Structural racism. If you were in the San Gabriel Valley that night, you saw how our neighbors were facing hellfire. Believe your own eyes and stand up for each other.

I was alerting everyone I knew. I didn't need aerial observations to tell who was going to be in danger that night.
