Checking out some old school drag racing his noon, with the 1998 season finale in the NHRA series at Pomona. Enjoying it a lot, seeing some old school names who were retired or almost retired by the time I became a more regular viewer in the 2010s.

With the money the new IHRA ownership was dropping to buy new tracks, start a stock car series, improve their drag racing to better compete with NHRA, I thought it was just a matter of time until fraud and other allegations hit. But its from SpaceXAI so please, defraud them, it is fine.

Just found out that the NHRA Sportsman series events, edited down for broadcast, are uploaded for on demand watching on Tubi. They usually air at odd hours as schedule filler on FS1/FS2, so I'm really pumped to know this. Right now watching the Top Alcohol dragsters go at it in the Chicagoland area.

I wish drag racing were more popular, cause like Funny Cars and Top Fuel cars are some of the coolest racing vehicles in the world and certainly the fastest. It is such a simple but joyful form of racing that also sometimes produces explosions. Dual screening NHRA with NASCAR today.

This 1993 #NHRA race I've been watching on the last few days has a bunch of Oldsmobiles in it, Funny Car, Top Fuel, and Pro Stock. I never knew they had poured so much into drag racing, but this is the year they left NASCAR and their Indycar involvement wouldn't start for another 4 years or so, so it makes sense they'd move those resources somewhere.

I was watching IHRA drag racing last night while sleepy and waiting to crawl in bed, and I was DELIGHTED by the fact that they had a category for snowmobiles modified to run on pavement! Those suckers got up to like 150 MPH on the strip.

Watching an NHRA race from 1993 and astounded by the fact most of these Top Fuel and Funny Cars are running sub-300MPH, when they can get up to 340 in the right conditions now, and also that a big chunk of the field are Oldsmobiles!!!!

Does #DragRacing still exist? If so, are all the #cars #EVs?
