A Daily Pill to Prevent #STI? It May Work, Scientists Say.
A common #antibiotic, #doxycycline, greatly reduced cases of #syphilis, #gonorrhea and #chlamydia when taken every day.
Their study was small and must be confirmed by more research. Scientists still have to resolve significant questions, including whether #STD might become resistant to the antibiotic and what effect it could have on healthy gut bacteria in people taking it every day.

A single dose of #doxycycline, a widely used #antibiotic, taken after #sex halved the incidence of #chlamydia and early #syphilis among gay and bisexual men and transgender women in San Francisco, city health officials announced on Monday. The findings offered a glimmer of hope amid a rising tide of #STD/#STI nationwide.

@arstechnica #Folliculitis is the one I sometimes deal with. I use to get rid of it really quickly with #Doxycycline, but its useless now. My new line of defense is #cephalexin, but its getting a fight, I have to take it for longer periods. When you live in densely populated areas, touching door knobs, elevator buttons, you are bound to catch it. Washing your hands, sanitizing and avoid touching your face is the best you can do, but thats super hard.
