The forecast for 150+ cm on December 11th has disappeared from The Weather Network this morning. Either it was a mistake, a prank, or they were worried about creating panic early. Like " call in the army" type of panic.

I can now cross Start A Cooking Fire off of my bucket list. All is well, nobody got hurt, and there was zero damage. The contents of the frying pan I was using suddenly caught fire, so it was just a matter of pulling the pan off the stove and waiting a couple of seconds for the material to burn off. Wife: Honey? This outlet feels warm. I was going to vacuum.
Me: Are the lights in the basement on? (knowing that circuit is connected because I'm a nerd who maps out the electric circuits in the house Just Because (tm) )
Wife: Yes, let me turn them off.
Me: gets screwdriver and voltage detector.
Me: takes outlet apart.
Me: finds this: (pics attached)
My wife is a friggin hero - kept the NEW (to us) house from burning down.
Moral: If something doesn't seem right, even if it's "dumb", speak up.. It could save your house, or someone's life.

I had something like that happen at a company I had done a #takehome for. I shipped a bare-bones proof of concept that did everything, but wasn't pretty but also used an off-the-shelf module. I figured I was two days in for a week project.

And they just sat on it. I asked if the module was alright, the recruiter had no idea... and later they just said that they were disappointed I didn't use the time to do something more stylish or cool.

@jerry @ojensen @dylanowendylan Agreed! The first time I was asked to become CISO, the company knew of a massive breach and were concealing it. They wanted someone to “fix things” but it was already too late. I refused the position before knowing of the issue - later, when they reached out for IR services the picture became very clear. #DodgedABullet :amaze:
