As this new #kernel series is not supported by the version of #EVDI that I had for #Displaylink, I had to download the newest version of that and compile it. Then the evdi #KernelModule built correctly on the next boot up.

And here I am sitting in front of four working monitors (three external, two via #HDMI, one via #USBC), all configured through #KDE and using #Displaylink and #EVDI #KernelModules without any faffing around, except for plugging things into the correct ports to begin with. #FreeSoftware has come a long way in the decades since I started using it. And now, more often that not, #ItJustWorks!

Upgraded to #Fedora43. The upgrade went very smoothly and quite fast but I'm having the issue with my third screen. It's a problem with the compatibility of the new 6.17 #kernel and the #Displaylink package. But I can forgo the luxury of a third screen for now. I'm hopeful that an update with be forthcoming soon.

Consigli?

Who says you can't have it all? The new Plugable UD-7400PD docking station gives you screen real estate for days—FIVE monitors at once! Perfect for pros, gamers, and workflow wizards.

My latest for @cryovex:
Multiple monitors are great for improving your workflow. Many people these days use two or three, but in some cases, the more, the merrier. While some docking stations support up to four external monitors, the new Plugable UD-7400PD utilizes the new Synaptics DisplayLink DL-7400 chipset to support up to FIVE monitors.

1st time that I actually got a #DisplayLink dock working mostly acceptably... after using a DP to HDMI converter cable to not use its singular HDMI port. So either the port is bad or #HDCP was being a pain in the rear-end. Fingers crossed that this will survive reboots... 🤞
(I know one thing: my next laptop will be equiped with USB4 or Thunderbolt. DL is a crutch. And before you ask: the screens' DP connectors are already in use by my PC.)

I just discovered something weird with my docking station #Synaptics #DisplayLink.
For already some time, I receive some warnings for a possible #man-in-the-middle #MITM attack when I connect to some of my #RaspberryPi hosts at home. I can't say now which ones nor how long it really happens off the top of my head.
But today I found the cause: every hosts that got registered in my
known_hostsfile while I had my laptop connected to the docking station has a different fingerprint registered. If I connect through the wifi I have one fingerprint key. If I use a USB-C bundle to connect to the network via cable it gives me the same fingerprint. If I use the docking station to connect to the cable network it gives me a *different fingerprint key.
All the hosts that I registered through the docking station make a warning appear when I access them via wifi, and viceversa
I'll keep the rant here and investigate another day. At least I have the issue localized, and I don't really suffer from a real #mitm attack.

Just tried to use an #Asus #MB169B+ #USB connected #Displaylink monitor with my #Fedora39 install, all it took was one install and it's up and running! I remember when I got this thing and there was no way to use it on anything other than #Windows and #MacOS
Fantastic to see how things change for the better =D
Leaving this link here for others on a #rpm based system who have a monitor that uses #Displaylink as well

Maybe someone with #regex or #bash wildcard faible can fix this issue in #Displaylink for #Debain #Linux
