Got a new #WilliamHannah notebook. #Discbound has been solid for me for a long time now. This is still a bit of an experiment but I hope it'll be nice.
I immediately swaped out the 60 pages that I'm sure a nice paper for 100 of tried and true #rhodia.

@aanee As an explicit non-answer to your request, do you know about the #discbound system? Stuff like https://akavel.com/discbound-brands - it has its flaws, definitely not compatible with a 200+ pages requirement; but personally I just love it and it's become a mind virus to me.

Scratching the surface of notebook systems, discovered "disc binding". Got a hole punch and some card stock on the way. Main thing that swayed me: being left handed and the fact I can fold it completely around.

This may not seem that big a deal, but I put together a “passport-sized” discbound notebook and it’s so cute! 😊

I finally got a starter discbound notebook from Talia. It came with planner pages and stickers and lots of lined paper. I took out the planner stuff since I have my Hobonichi Hon for that. I’m planning on trying this out as a commonplace notebook. The lined paper is surprisingly very fountain pen-friendly. I don’t like the spacing of the lined paper, but it’s fine for notes and such. Thought I’d mention, if anyone’s looking for a starter discbound notebook.

Very interesting. I stumbled across this page searching for pocket-sized discbound notebooks (mainly want to find tiny discs). They specialize in D&D notebooks but have other gaming-themed notebooks such as a “farmer’s almanac” for games like Animal Crossing, etc.

@feff Atoma is not the only brand producing #discbound punches now, in case you don't know - they were the first and had the original patent, but now there are others too. Personally, I have an Arc punch, you can also find e.g. Happy Planner and others, and also some Chinese brand attempts of varying quality.

I can’t remember if I’ve posted a question about this before: anyone using #discbound #notebooks here? I want to make my own with #FountainPen friendly paper for note taking and have a Tul hole punch in mind as an inexpensive option to try out. I know Levenger has some really nice options but they’re also pricey. Tips? Thoughts? Please and thank you.

My daily journal and pen situation. The paper is Arc. The ruler/bookmark is from Levenger as are the discs, dated tabs and leather zip cover. The pen is a Platinum 3776 Century.

The Reference Guide PDF of #Ironsworn #Starforged #SoloRPG, printed on glossy A5 paper at a local shop and then #discbound on my own. Seems to work really fine for now, and will allow me to add/remove pages & session notes later as I learn the system! One important thing to note is that at the last moment I noticed I had to move the 4th page of the PDF to the end of the file, to fix how the page spreads & page numbers are arranged ( @shawntomkin could it make sense to fix in the original file?)

@klardotsh I used a Frixion pen for a while; note that it works perfectly fine on regular paper. I liked it, though in the end found that the pen dries up after a while, and also the ink is somewhat temperature-prone and can fade out quite much after some time. For a potentially interesting alternative to what you're describing, you might also like to consider Esquoia paper plus Staedtler Lumocolor NON-PERMANENT markers. IIUC, this is basically dry-erase #discbound paper + dry-erase markers.

Truly, the possibilities are endless! At this point this is sounding like an advertisement 😂 It's not, I just really love my #discbound notebook and I love telling people about it! #DiscBound notebooks are an attempt to design something that has the feel of a spiral bound notebook but the functionality of a 3 ring binder. The discs are the binding; the paper is perforated in such a way that you can easy add, remove, and rearrange pages. If you buy the custom puncher, you can fill the notebook with whatever kind of paper you want! I also design and print out custom pages that suit my needs, but there are plenty kinds of pre-designed papers and inserts you can buy.

@ashneehs YES oh my gosh, so I love #DiscBound notebooks, basically it's like if a spiral bound notebook and a three ring binder had a baby. The pages are customizable and rearrangable. The "discs" are the binding, and the pages are specially punched so that they stay in but can still be removed. Gimme a sec and I'll do a demonstration~!
