today is johnny cash's birthday btw. he would be 93. i'll dedicate this dies mercurii to him, because he spent his life trying to transmit songs about difficult, personal emotions to as many regular and working-class people as possible, including the incarcerated. bad guy in his private life, doing his best in his public life, relatable and meaningful to many people including me.

i'm taking it literally by doing some phone or text banking this afternoon, asking constituents to contact their congresspeople in support of a ceasefire. i'm nervous, but it will be okay.
yesterday was dies martis, mars' day. the gods of war are also the gods of peace, because it takes the courage of powerful people to set down their means of power. to sit at the table instead.
