CW: AI
My intention for the #dasl machine is to be a high-performance computer for a post-cloud, post-generative AI world. Something to be used to rebuild.
But I realized that it even parts of it, incomplete, could be used to amplify these things before they have run their course.
I’m rethinking how much I’m going to share about this machine publicly in light of this realization 🤔
I don’t want to help make things worse.

In case your wondering why I have the audacity to take-on a next-generation supercomputer project myself, here’s a link to the letter that provided the inspiration:

In the spirit of making incremental progress every day on my new supercomputer design, I've selected some hardware from the parts bin that perhaps surprisingly should be "good enough" to make a lot of progress.

Spent two hours this morning working in #inkscape sketching-out an example problem to demonstrate the difference between a traditional CPU-based computer and a #dasl machine. Thought I could finish it enough to share today, but had to overcome some limits in my Inkscape knowledge so it took longer than expected.
That said, I used this as an opportunity to finally learn these things, and along the way created a template to “grease the skids” next time around.

I awoke inspired, I believe this machine may be my magnum opus. Of course it starts as a blog post:
