As with every #CQWPX I'm already getting bored. Every single station is a new multiplier, mostly European.

Here's a blog post with summary of my QRP participation in the CQ WPX CW contest during the last weekend: https://ea5iyl.blogspot.com/2025/05/my-participation-in-cq-wpx-cw-2025.html

the #hamradio #CQWPX #AmateurRadio contest is in the books. My wife was sick this weekend so I had MUCH less supervision and I was able to devote entirely too much time to working the radio compared to normal weekend. 33,720 total points operating single op, lower power (100w) in the Classic overlay (only had 14hrs of on air time).

This is a shorting bar that grounds utility 240VAC aerial cables to the ground. Spare operator required per use.
It also acts as an adjustable, rotary V dipole, based on two alix telescopic verticals.
It should be extensible, but we never used it beyond 10m so far. Based on an idea by @yo9lig

So - the plan was to build a radical shortened dipole for 80m that is no longer than 8m. Due to space limitations of the property. I also wanted to build an antenna just for 80 - especially for the RTTY segment. Here you go. Looks fine to me. As you can see on the picture before - the antenna is hung on a 7m SpiderBeam in a stretched L formation with the beam facing up. So just about 20kHz usuable without tuner (SWR < 1:2 - if you want to run that on the finals). So, I am soo ready for CQ WPX contest!

Finished up at 2359z, 546 in the log, 1 dupe and 28hrs completed.
Finally had a contact with VY0ERC after seeing them skim my FT8 signals which was the highlight of the contest, as the score wasn't great compared with previous years entries. Conditions were shocking on Saturday so will be interesting to see the results on this one.
All quiet now until the BARTG RTTY 75 Sprint on the 23rd April.

I have never gathered so many points before- honestly can't complain.

I'm 20 hrs in on the CQ WW WPX and it's been a hard slog to 400 contacts. Got worried I only had Europe from yesterday, but Canada, US and Caribbean stations were on 15m this morning to even things up, also some JA. Conditions coming back since about 1100z.
A break now to regroup for the last push to 2359 ! #hamaradio #cqwpx
