Being able to keep an ear on the birds and the wind is one reason I prefer cw over ssb. But I did make some voice qso's today, according to Polo the activation was 4h4min which was absolutely a coincidence, and had 44 QSOs, which wasn't. Also 4 in Europe and 40 in the US. 44 the minimum for a #WWFF activation - but usually I don't have the patience for that. 44, in WWFF speak, stands for the 4 directions on a compass and the 4 elements. Thanks @N4JAW for the P2P! Another 4, very auspicious.

@kr1st I'm not even interested in the awards. I just want to combine two hobbies, #hamradio and the outdoors, and upload my logs mainly so others can get their awards. Hence it doesn't take a lot to make me no longer care (I stopped doing #WWFF because log management was so annoying), but in this case it's also a matter of principle.

New #POTA #WWFF country unlocked: #NorthMacedonia 🇲🇰
Since #Albania wouldn't give us a #hamradio guest license, we just walked over the border into North Macedonia this evening, visited the Sveti Naum Monastery and did a 2-operator 3-park activation.
Lots of interference today, there were many stations we couldn't hear. But we walked home with 68 QSOs across all of Europe on 40/20/2 meters.

Another successful #POTA #WWFF activation in #Italy #SouthTyrol, despite the mast falling over twice in a row as if I wasn't just a radio amateur, but a complete amateur...

159 QSOs in two and a half hours, one of the worst pile-ups I've had so far. Even DX stations from the US, Algeria and Ceuta called in. Wasn't #SpaceWeather supposed to be bad?

Finally built and tuned my new inverted-V fan dipole #antenna for #POTA #SOTA #WWFF. It's three 40m, 20m and 10m dipoles fed in the middle from the same box. I hang the feed point box from a rope I throw over some trees, or from my 10m #Spiderbeam, and then tie the antenna wires down with some pegs.
40m/20m/15m/10m/6m don't need a tuner.
60m/30m/17m work very well with a tuner.
The whole construction is ultralight, it's basically just the weight of the wires and ropes.

#POTA DE-0618 Königsbrücker Heide (#WWFF DLFF-0141, #GMA DA/SX-230 Wettinhöhe) is a former military training area. When you climb the tower, you’re able to see the enormous size of it. There are two nice places to sit which allow you to put up decent antennas. Operating on #HF as well as #VHF and up from here is a blast. #HamRadio #ParksOnTheAir #Amateurfunk #qrp #mtr3b #morsecode #fm #hiking #mountains #Saxony
