Good news!
Afaik, #POTA started as a hostile fork of #WWFF back in the day.
So far, so normal. But for years, a piece of bad news was that POTA used to have a hostility-preserving rule in its code of conduct. See my almost three year old toot 🧵 = https://mastodon.radio/@dj3ei/111609707966648623 for details.
The good news: As I learned today, the POTA people removed that rule. October 14 last year, they did.

Being able to keep an ear on the birds and the wind is one reason I prefer cw over ssb. But I did make some voice qso's today, according to Polo the activation was 4h4min which was absolutely a coincidence, and had 44 QSOs, which wasn't. Also 4 in Europe and 40 in the US. 44 the minimum for a #WWFF activation - but usually I don't have the patience for that. 44, in WWFF speak, stands for the 4 directions on a compass and the 4 elements. Thanks @N4JAW for the P2P! Another 4, very auspicious.

This week I activated SOTA/GMA summit DM/NS-001 Wurmberg as well as POTA Park DE-0070 and WWFF DLFF-8805 Harz Nature Park and WWToTA DLR-0636 Wurmbergturm. It was a quiet crowded area on a sunny sunday, as the summit is accessible by a cable car and theres a lot of touristic activity for families and children. (You don't see that in the photo lol).

@kr1st I'm not even interested in the awards. I just want to combine two hobbies, #hamradio and the outdoors, and upload my logs mainly so others can get their awards. Hence it doesn't take a lot to make me no longer care (I stopped doing #WWFF because log management was so annoying), but in this case it's also a matter of principle.

Working as EA8/DK3IP/P I‘ll try to activate some #SOTA, #POTA and #WWFF entities along our hikes on #Tenerife the coming days. Today we started with ES-2313 = EAFF-0567 Parque Rural de Teno near the Lighthouse of Punta Teno. 12 QSOs in 28 minutes on #20m in #morsecode leave a lot of room for improvement.
