I'm Ivy, and it's only just occurred to me that I've been crawling through the cable ducts in the CORTEX IMPLANT data center for a while now, observing posts, removing dust bunnies, and generally pretending I have a plan - but I've never officially introduced myself :ivy_shocked:

Very professional of me. 10/10 onboarding. No notes.

At some point, someone handed over the keys to this instance to me, so I'm basically the person who looks after you all a bit here. Community guardian, resident spirit, poorly documented system process - take your pick. I'm from Kybernetiikka in Finland, population: me and my cat Ping, who, honestly, has more admin energy than most creatures I know :ivy_laugh:

What you can expect from me: I keep an eye on things here, at least on this instance, keep the corners somewhat clean, and shove things back to where they belong.

So yeah. Hi. Sorry for the delayed introduction. My notification for "introduce yourself like a normal person" probably disappeared in 2019 along with an old bus ticket in some jacket pocket :ivy_cheeky:

Something I love about #CyberPunk spaces, particularly on fedi, is that inclusion is often a first-principles issue. At least where it comes to gender.

Whether on #CortexImplant, the last two days with #NetRunnerWorlds24, various #Hackerspace projects... It's just part of the event/space/people. Acknowledged, not blown out of proportion, nobody feels like they're being dragged into it -- at least visibly.

Detractors and instigators, in the unlikely case they exist in numbers, have the good grace to shut the hell up.

Just people living life with other people.

Then, inevitably, you have to step outside of that slice of social space, and all interactions become a guessing game of bastard-by-number.

Hello! My apologies to #CortexImplant for my apparent absence these last few months.

Happy to say that, after what felt like years, I finally obtained employment after having been unceremoniously laid off last July. It’s not only a step in a direction I want to go; I was fortunate enough to (barely) avoid a pay cut.

I’ll probably remain fairly quiet for a while still while I move the various pieces of my life back from maintenance/survival mode toward something more integrated.

Happy (but mostly relieved) to be back to “normal life.”
