The St Kilda Rd bike lanes are often filled with leaves. Many cleaning requests submitted to #SnapSendSolve. I wonder if this will spur the #CityOfMelbourne and #CityOfPortPhillip to add them to the regular sweeping schedule?

#copp Erschreckend dumm.

We have Council elections coming up in October, and we're looking forward to voting for candidates who support active travel. Ahead of the election, we rated the legacy of our incumbents here. https://www.ppbug.org/bug-blog/2024/7/7/councillor-score-card-who-is-working-for-people-who-ride #melbourne #cycling #CoPP #StreetsPeopleLove

Bike spot map released! This useful project asks people to place a dot on the map where they feel safe or unsafe while cycling. In our area, below, Chapel St, Inkerman St and Kerferd Rd really stand out as unsafe locations, though it's heartening to see a number of green (safe) spots blooming on St Kilda Road (north of the Junction). #melbourne #cycling #BikeSpot #CoPP

CW: Local bike lane politics, City of Port Phillip
Bike lanes are the latest conscripts in the City of Port Phillip culture wars: consistency and evidence are out.
On Wednesday, Council voted to replace the flagship bike lane policy with a weaker plan to make a “range of interventions” like painted bike symbols, sharrows, kerb outstands and street art. When the State Government put exactly such interventions in our streets two years ago, this council demanded that they be ripped out.

At Port Phillip Council tonight, councillors claimed that "you can't ride a bike if you're grocery shopping, if you''re dropping your kid at dance class, if you've got a couple of kids to take somewhere, if you're old, if you're disabled, if you don't want to get wet". It's like they haven't seen a bike outside of the Tour de France! #cycling #melbourne #CoPP #BikeLanes
