As of 31st of October we're missing about 1500€ to finish the year in the black figures. That will probably work out anyway, but if you take part in our fundraiser, you can help us put a little money aside for bad times.

On Mai 20th we reached 48,19% of the goal, so thanks to you we are half way to freedom from PayPal.
And it feels good. 🙌

Does any of the EU services here mentioned offer the same level of protection?

I see a lot of #ClosePaypal toots in my feed.

While I do realize it's not strictly necessary to have #Paypal in my life it offers one feature that I can't find anywhere else: refunds

When I buy something and the item isn't shipped or when I give money to a fraudulent service, all I have to do is open a PayPal litigation procedure and I always get the money back.

This doesn't easily happen with other forms of payments.
Do you have an alternative offering the same level of protection?

Ich hab noch ein Problem mit der Suche nach ernsthaften PayPal-Alternativen.

- SEPA-Überweisungen sind immer noch zu langsam fürs Online-Shopping.
- Kreditkarte, Google/Apple/Amazon-Pay treibt den Teufel mit dem Beelzebub aus.
- Twint, iDeal, Boleto Banciario, etc. sind alles tolle Ansätze, aber halt nur regionale Angebote.

- Bitcoin, Etherium, Monero, etc. hätten mal eine interessante Alternative werden können, sind aber heute extrem volatil und von unberechenbaren Gestalten dominiert.
- GNUTaler wäre eigentlich eine fast schon perfekte Lösung, wenn es ausserhalb der Uni Bern mal Exchanges gäbe.
- Und sonst? Wechat mit Social-Credit-Extrafunktion? Nicht wirklich, oder?

Tschüss PayPal?

Wir wollen weg von amerikanischen Anbietern. Darum mach mit bei der #ClosePayPal Challenge!

Von 1. April bis 1. Juli läuft unsere Challenge, bei der es darum geht, gemeinsam unsere Abhängigkeit von PayPal loszuwerden.
Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten mitzumachen:
1) Alle Spenden auf unser Bankkonto zählen, egal wie klein, und wenn wir es schaffen, damit monatlich unsere notwendigen Kosten zu decken (Spendenziel 1, € 850,-) dann schließen wir im Juli unser PayPal Konto!
2) Schließe selbst dein PayPal Konto und poste darüber mit dem Hashtag #ClosePayPalChallenge. Hier gibt es eine Schritt für Schritt Anleitung: https://www.paypal.com/us/cshelp/article/how-do-i-submit-a-data-erasure-request-help1036
