#cleopatranetflix I don’t have a problem w/ #cleopatra portrayed by a biracial British actress. British ppl always play her! Ask yourself why didnt Hollywood hire Greek #MelinaMercouri instead of Liz Taylor?
No, I care more that a Hollywood actress didn’t bother to study her subject just like all the white ppl b4 her. Even little things are factually wrong. It’s a mess! #greekheritage. #jadasmith . #culturalappropriation #netflix #insulting #history -
@oatmeal I never said Cleopatra was white. It is known for a fact her ancestry was Greek descended from Ptolemy who was Macedonian. This is at least the 3rd time I’ve made the point I don’t care how she’s portrayed racially in a TV show, even 1 purporting to be a documentary as long as her cultural heritage is at least mentioned bc it would’ve informed her intellectual interests, theoretically. It’s just a TV show. Let it go. Ok #cleopatranetflix #greek #egyptianhistory

@histodons @EgyptianAphorist The ‘70s blue glitter-eye shadow is a big tell that this is more mockumentary than documentary, intentional or not. #cleopatranetflix
