After filmmaker Curtis #Woodside and #Egyptologist Sofia #Aziz were tapped to work on #Netflix’s #QueenCleopatra "documentary," they set out to create their own documentary about #Cleopatra. Without reanactment, but with
contributions from trusted Egyptologists and historians.

As far as I can tell it is based on historical evidence instead of unproven speculation and wishfull thinking, allbeit with a bit of Egyptian patriotism.

In einem Anfall von Masochismus die #Netflix "Dokumention" #QueenCleopatra weiter gesehen. Dass #Kleopatra Schwarz ist, stört mich nicht, sehr aber die Penetranz, mit der das immer wieder betont wird. Es ist z. B. von zeitgenössischen Darstellungen bekannt, welche Frisuren Kleopatra trug. Aber damit würde man die Afro-Krause nicht so gut erkennen. 😖 Dass Caesar, Marc Anton und der "Bösewicht" Octavian Waschlappen sind, soll wohl betonen, was für eine starke Frau Cleo doch ist.🤦♂️

Two of his points were not clear to me until now:
1. Since #Cleopatra belonged to a dynasty of #Macedonian-#Greek origin, she was not only not Black, but also a quasi-#colonial ruler.
2. Because Egyptian history is reinterpreted by outsiders in a way that denies contemporary Egyptians part of their identity, it is #CulturalAppropriation.

Von der Machart unteres TerraX-Niveau, und wie so oft in schlechten "Dokumentationen" als "historische Tatsachen" dargestellte Vermutungen. Leider eher Marketing-Gag als ernstgemeinter #Antirassismus. #Geschichte basiert nicht auf Subjektivität, sondern auf Fakten. #Kleopatra war keine Frau aus Subsahara #Afrika, sondern aus #Makedonien, daher hatte sie nun mal keine tief dunkle Hautfarbe. Sie anders darzustellen ist Verfälschung von historischen Ereignissen. Selbst die #Ägypter sagen, dass ihr falsch liegt.

La cosa es que en TikTok me han salido varias mujeres from Black TikTok y de Egypt TikTok hablando de #QueenCleopatra.
Según entiendo Jada Pinkett Smith es la narradora y productora ejecutiva y su idea es buscar historias de monarcas a las cuales la historia occidental no les ha prestado mucha atención porque son mujeres racializadas, específicamente mujeres negras.
