Random cat musings: Swayze's learning more of my behaviors and showing more of his. He has figured out the hooman needs to thrash around a bit getting comfortable in bed, and waits patiently until he is sure the thrashing about of pillows and blankets has stopped before climbing on board to make his own nest on top of the hooman (with much purring and making of biscuits).

Also: he was a real sweetheart this morning when a friend dropped by to help with a smoke detector battery - greeted the visitor cheerfully, was a good sport when we had to test the alarm (looked about alertly but did not freak). So Mr Swayze also approves of the Purina One beef pate. If he's also into the whitefish pate, that means I can dare to bulk order this variety pack and have it be a budget saver not a budget buster. Decent cat food ain't cheap, but I am fixing to make this work the way I do for my own healthy eats on a budget routine.

So far it looks like the chicken/liver is Mr Swayze's favorite of the canned food flavors I've offered him this week. The good stuff is less expensive in bulk, but I'm glad I bought a test pack of the pricier itty-bitty cans before investing in a case of the big cans, as there's at least one flavor he did not care for at all.

The carrier and the trip to the vet were not Mr Swayze's favorite things, but he behaved like a gentlecat through the whole thing. The vet tech complimented him on his friendly behavior. And now his hooman needs a nap after waking up at oh-dark-thirty to get him to his post-adoption checkup. 🥱

No photos because I was not quite awake and kind of pinned down by a cat - but yes, I was pinned down by a cat. He's jumped up and sat on a corner of the bed prior to this morning, but this was the first time Mr Swayze felt emboldened to snuggle up right next to me for a pet-and-purr interlude. 😻
