Say hello to the enshittification of AI:
"Many people frame the problem of funding A.I. as choosing the lesser of two evils: restrict access to transformative technology to a select group of people wealthy enough to pay for it, or accept advertisements even if it means exploiting users’ deepest fears and desires to sell them a product. I believe that’s a false choice. Tech companies can pursue options that could keep these tools broadly available while limiting any company’s incentives to surveil, profile and manipulate its users.
OpenAI says it will adhere to principles for running ads on ChatGPT: The ads will be clearly labeled, appear at the bottom of answers and will not influence responses. I believe the first iteration of ads will probably follow those principles. But I’m worried subsequent iterations won’t, because the company is building an economic engine that creates strong incentives to override its own rules. (The New York Times has sued OpenAI for copyright infringement of news content related to A.I. systems. OpenAI has denied those claims.)
In its early years, Facebook promised that users would control their data and be able to vote on policy changes. Those commitments eroded. The company eliminated holding public votes on policy. Privacy changes marketed as giving users more control over their data were found by the Federal Trade Commission to have done the opposite, and in fact made private information public. All of this happened gradually under pressure from an advertising model that rewarded engagement above all else.
The erosion of OpenAI’s own principles to maximize engagement may already be underway. It’s against company principles to optimize user engagement solely to generate more advertising revenue, but it has been reported that the company already optimizes for daily active users anyway..."

...
- the toolkit does not officially support this sensing mode
- the 50 line demo program we have been looking at is not actually based on sample code but was written by ChatGPT, and the student does not understand how it works
- the code is not actually using the dedicated capsense chip in some undocumented mode but just toggles a GPIO pin in a while() loop - this can't work.Instead, three people wasted an hour trying to make #ChatGPTs hallucinations work in the real world.

#ChatGPTs #Halluzinationen klingt so menschlich und verharmlost diesen Fehler.
Das sollte eine Maschine aber nicht sein.
Daher ist #ProgrammFehler eigentlich besser.

At a base level, I was disappointed but enlightened by #chatGPTs answer to "what are the most interesting phd theses and books about Prince's Purple Rain album". At a meta-level, I learned a deep limitation of ChatGPT

#AI #GenerativeAI #Law #Attorneys #LLMs #ChatGPTs: "Many corporate attorneys believe their law firms should use generative AI for legal work but also feel strongly about how it should be used.
Corporate law departments and their outside law firms are in alignment: Generative AI and public-facing platforms like ChatGPT can and should be used in legal work. Those positive feelings extend to corporate attorneys wanting their outside firms to utilize generative AI — but only if law firms create new value through that technology that the department can’t achieve on its own.
According to a recent survey from the Thomson Reuters Institute, both corporate law departments and law firms believe generative AI has a future in law. More than 80% of both groups responded that generative AI can be applied to legal work, and more than half of both groups (54% of corporate respondents, 51% of firm respondents) said that the technology should be applied to legal work."

Here is how you can become a millionaire off of teachers:
Use #chatgpts ai to make a program that would take a list of words and short observations and also grades for a set of students and generate coherent, correctly spelled, polite, clear recommendation letters and comments.

Well said.
We are already living in the times of “alternative facts” .
#chatGPTs regurgitations are close to indistinguishable from content that is based on original thought.
The “facts” it presents may be completely - and intentionally - wrong or misleading, but indistinguishable from text involving genuine thought. What if someone uses this to write alternative papers and spread them eg. using sci-hub?
We’ll need signatures and vouching for sources.
