a warm spring day, the rain did not arrive this afternoon; So we reset the porch - wood pails, snow shovels, show shoes off; and swept the wooden deck and little bridge; moving twigs and removing moss from areas that are supposed to be strawberry beds; then worked on some trees that tipped over with the heavy snow last winter: My job was pitching the cut pieces up to the flat (about 5 times for each piece). @SilverSalmonAK well, snow was not gone for public roadside cleanup day (Sat April 19 this year). but there are crocus in full bloom where buildings shelter them. As for ships, Iʼm hoping to sneak downtown May 8 or 10 in the morning. #CBJuneau #Alaska

We were shovelling the 5 inches from the last day or so, and during our hour, another half inch fell.

Weʼve heard that at least one food truck is iced into its winter spot for at least another three weeks. Plows did not keep up even on busy downtown streets yesterday.

the berm at the entrance of the drive is not melting away, the snow on the roof has mostly slid off (just some of the ridgeline is still there) Avalanche Hazard is high (with concern for effects of this rainy storm).

9:00 pm in forest (not avalanche hazard area) #CBJuneau 40 F, and the brackets holding up the gutters are straining and popping as the snow starts to shift. We’re okay with not driving through puddles. #MyAlaskaWx

we have icicles (very unusual) and snow creeping off the roof onto the gutters Driveway entrance blocked by a shallow but lumpy and icy mess. With luck, precipitation forecast (starting late tonight) and flood watch (starting late Friday night) means the snow will melt away (and the roof will shed the snow).

@anisian I admire your calm regard for tensile strength. We have been ( for a few year now) regularly losing gutter brackets and sometimes gutter pieces to the creeping snow load (first thing we see in the morning....) This year #CBJuneau #LingítAnní hasnʼt had enough snow to cause that damage
