6:00AM: 45F, overcast.
Party sunny today, high of 54F.
We have company coming on Monday, John is fishing today, so I'll be cranking tunes and cleaning.
That's the best part of company: it forces us to become less slovenly. 😉
-
6:00AM: 40F, partly cloudy.
Fairly good weather (ie. not much rain) until Sunday, when (much) rain comes back into the picture.
-
6:00AM: 45F, light rain.
Showers today, sun comes back Saturday.
Side note: This tourist season is much more stressful right off the bat than in the past.
PEOPLE! When you visit a village/town/city/metropolis....
🚨 CROSS AT CROSSWALKS! 🚨
Do not dart out to jaywalk and "beat traffic" or wander into the street and pause, taking picture after picture.
🚨 AK is in the 21st century...we have cars. Cars that can hit you and absolutely ruin your vacation.

6:30AM: 48F, overcast.
After an especially gorgeous, sunny day yesterday (Yes - even this sun-grouch can appreciate a clear day now and then!) showers and clouds are back in the forecast.
Sun-lovers fear not! It's back in the picture for Saturday.
-
5:30AM: 38F, fair
The fact that the sky is clear hit home this morning when I woke up at 4:30AM to lots & lots of light....and my brain said, "It's time to get up!!"
Here's my annual grumpy grouse about the sunlit summer in the far North.
It sucks for sleep.
I said what I said.
-
6:00AM: 44F, clouds are breaking up a bit.
Showers today, clouds this week, rain/showers mid-week on.
In short, a Sitka spring...at least these days.
-
6:30AM: 47F, light rain.
We had a lovely November day yesterday and it looks like another November morn right now.
We sat in the rain and wind yesterday, freezing our asses off, selling baked goods and coffee, but it was worth it. 😍
John swears up & down we had a cold, wet, late spring last year also, that "we were robbed of May." I vaguely remember something like that, but if nothing else, I've learned NOT to trust my weather memory! lol
-
6:00AM: 49F, overcast.
It rained off & on last night and will rain off and on today.
At 9:00AM is the 33rd annual SE Alaska Women in Fisheries' (of which I am President) annual Fishermen's Flea Market. SEAWIF will sell baked goods and coffee while fisher men and women bring out their gear to buy/sell/trade.
But mainly is a fisher person BS session. The biggest of the year.
Same size as that fish that got away. 😉
-
6:00AM: 46F, overcast.
Showers, clouds, chance of showers, rain.
Rinse, repeat.
Happy dance from me.
Rinse, repeat.
-
6:00AM: 44F, light drizzle.
Woke up to some lovely rain once again! Thursday looks to be mostly sunny, then kinda sunny Friday, then rain for the weekend.
See - THIS is equal opportunity weather. Something for everyone.
-
6:00AM: 50F (!!), overcast.
We hit 60F yesterday, as predicted. I did not get out to see the booty short situation, but I can confirm none passed by my office window.
Klawock hit 82F. I believe that's "bikinis downtown weather" (female AND male), but again - I have no persona experience on which to draw.
-
6:00AM: 43F, fair.
It might hit 60F today.
Time for the booty shorts to hit the streets!
(Not on me, never on me! 🤣 )
-
6:30AM: 45F, overcast.
Cloudy today, mostly sunny tomorrow.
A 4000 tourist day.
If I want to walk in Totem Park in peace and go to the grocery store and find food, I need to do both soon!
-
6:00AM: 46F, light rain.
Woke up to the lovely pitapat of rain on the roof and looked out to see a foggy/misty morning.
I'm at the point in the season where I start cursing how long the light lasts in the AM and PM, so waking up to a wee bit of darkness was most welcome.
-
6:00AM: 43F, overcast.
"Chance rain" in the forecastable future, low in the low 40's, high in the low 50's..
Which means grey and cloudy. YAY!
-
5:45AM: 48F, light rain.
And rain it did....
Sitka got 1.31" in the last 24hrs. Only Yakutat, way up north on the panhandle, beat us with 1.54".
Still dark & rainy this morning, it will stop in the early afternoon.
-
6:00AM: 45F, overcast.
RAIN today! For once the central panhandle is projected to get the most precipitation. Could be 1"+ after it's all said and done.
As you all know, I'm here for it!
Mainly because I get to sit in my office and watch. If I was out working in the rain, I might have a different refrain. (See what I did there?)
-
6:00AM: 44F, partly cloudy.
Still headed toward actual rain Wednesday. Yay!
We are relearning to drive with tourists in town. it is not fun. The sheer number of people who stand in the middle of the street and force cars to drive around is flabbergasting.
Yes, I'm a tourist in other places, but no, I do NOT impede traffic while taking pictures of a stuffed bear! (Although the bear is wearing a plaid vest and earflap hat this year, so just maybe....)
-
6:00AM: 41F, mostly cloudy.
Rain is slowly creeping back in until rain is "likely" on Wednesday.
First cruise ship day went well yesterday...just 195 days to go. 😎 😉
-
7:00AM: 42F, overcast-ish.
Chance of showers today, rain definitely coming for next week.
Just to make this post at least a bit interesting, I've attached a pic of the Sea Bear in the cradle when it was first lifted out onto the pad. For scale, the boat is 50 feet long.
This is the new (controversial) haul-out. Too much controversy for one post! 😂
-
7:15AM: 39F, overcast.
Super boring weather until about Wednesday, when rain is anticipated. Mostly cloudy, kinda cloudy, perhaps "sprinkles" tomorrow (that word never fails to tickle me in a forecast.)
-
6:15AM: 41F, overcast.
Partly sunny, mostly sunny, partly cloudy, mostly cloudy...
Really, put the above phrases in any order you like and you'll be correct regarding our weather through the weekend, into early next week.
Our high will probably reach 50F at some point in the next few days.
One of those "partly sunny" days lands on our first cruise day, Sunday. Lucky tourists!
-
6:15AM: 41F, overcast.
We're heading into a prolonged period of mostly sunny skies.
It's been suitably dank & dreary for a while, so I'll allow it.
Plus John needs good weather to get his boat tuned up at the haul-out, so yay sun!
-
6;15AM: 39F, light rain.
We're heading into a mostly sunny weekend with highs in the low 50's.
Perfect for John to haul out the SeaBear and get to scrubbing. I might even have a pic or two.
-
6:00AM: 37F, light rain, a bit of fog.
The NWS has taken to doing a split, North/South thing for the panhandle. North (Yakutat, Haines, Juneau) and South (POW Island, Ketchikan, Wrangell) - each get their own forecast in the SEAK weather banner. Besides reminding me of that miniseries in the 80's, (Patrick Swayze!!) it's a tossup whether Sitka will go with the North or the South.
Much like Kansas before the Civil War.

yes, there were snowflakes (at least until they hit the ground thisMonday morning) -- a good day to be slowly resetting after #AlaskaFolkFestival ! Primroses still under a foot of snow. #LingítAaní #CBJuneau #akwx #MyAlaskaWx
-
noon Apr 3, steady precipitation making the porch wet, It looks like big drops or even flakes as it falls 35F here; NWS calls it snow/rain in the forecast. Iʼm hoping that the temperature means weʼll get more rain so that the path and drive lose their icy packed snow. #MyAlaskaWx #CBJuneau
-
4:15 pm: 34F, medium snow
We were shovelling the 5 inches from the last day or so, and during our hour, another half inch fell.Weʼve heard that at least one food truck is iced into its winter spot for at least another three weeks. Plows did not keep up even on busy downtown streets yesterday.

Monday 4 pm Steady rain and 42 F #CBJuneau #MyAlaskaWx
the berm at the entrance of the drive is not melting away, the snow on the roof has mostly slid off (just some of the ridgeline is still there) Avalanche Hazard is high (with concern for effects of this rainy storm). -
9:00 pm in forest (not avalanche hazard area) #CBJuneau 40 F, and the brackets holding up the gutters are straining and popping as the snow starts to shift. We’re okay with not driving through puddles. #MyAlaskaWx
-
Snow drifting down this Thursday afternoon. Temp 34 F here in the forest
3:30 pmwe have icicles (very unusual) and snow creeping off the roof onto the gutters Driveway entrance blocked by a shallow but lumpy and icy mess. With luck, precipitation forecast (starting late tonight) and flood watch (starting late Friday night) means the snow will melt away (and the roof will shed the snow).
we are cozy and safe, just being cautious about getting out and about #CBJuneau #MyAlaskaWx

It’s safe to say that we got dumped on overnight. 14” and still coming down. #Alaska #Anchorage #BearValley #MyAlaskaWx

Clear and cold, but only -5º up here at the house. Compared to Fairbanks and most of the interior, we've got it pretty good. The Alaska Range glowing in the afternoon light. #Alaska #Anchorage #BearValley #ViewFromTheDeck #MyAlaskaWx #Denali
