Here it comes: lots of watches/warnings/advisories this morning. A flood watch for the southern panhandle (just south of us), a wind advisory for the southern panhandle (including Sitka) for late tonight, into Thursday morning. The gale warning for Thursday has increased to 40kt.
This....this is what trips my trigger! Bring on the storm track!
(But please...no landslides in populated areas and no trees down on people or houses.)

We got us an "impactful" weather system headed our way. A series of low pressure systems will head for SE Alaska. Heavy rain, high winds.
An E 35 gale on Wed night, then a SE 35 gale on Thursday.

We received another quarter inch of rain, bringing us darn close to 1" for this latest weather system. Hard to believe that's all it rained 'cause once again, it sure seemed like we needed to contemplate an ark.
Showers for the next day or two, then sunny for Friday & Saturday until the next (weak) front.

It really rained last night for several hours, slowing down around 3AM.
Still not getting official rain reports from NWS, but through other sources it looks like we got .64" and it's still falling.
Sun might be here on Friday, before a weak atmospheric river flows through the weekend.

The NWS is calling for more "unsettled" weather. It was raining pretty hard when we went to bed, but just showers predicted for the next 3 days. Maybe the sun peeks out, then another front is poised for the weekend.

Today is predicted to be the most active with this current front, but we've been downgraded from "rain" to "showers."
"Heavy rain" dropped out of the picture quickly.
I'm trying to keep my spirits up but....sigh...Hopefully I'll have better luck with the NEXT system!

4:00PM: weather update.
Sitka is under a wind advisory from 7PM to 10AM. We are also expected to get 1.5 - 3" of rain with this system. Interestingly, the greatest amount of rain is expected in the central panhandle, ie. Sitka!

After an amazing vacay, I'm baaaaAAAaaack!
And the rain's here to greet me! I was sooo tired of sun in AZ and WA! I knew I could count on good ol' Sitka to deliver my deluge, (delusional?), downpour desires.
Note: I may have miscalculated going in to work today after coming in on the 11PM flight. Dealing with PFD problems on 5 hours of sleep...no bueno.
