One of my summer songs, so perfect in its production you almost don’t realize it’s basically one person politely telling another to go fuck themselves.

#CantBuyAThrillWell you wouldn't even know a diamond if you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious I can't understand
Are you Reelin’ In The Years?
Stowin' away the time?
Are you gatherin' up the tears?
Have you had enough of mine? -

I've unironically loved #SteelyDan from #CantBuyAThrill through #Gaucho.
#RoyalScam was the first album I'd heard where I loved every track. It's still one of a relative few in the almost 50 years since then where that's true, across #musical eras and genres.
Maybe their sharpest, most perfect lyric: "Cause tonight they're arranging
A small reception just for me
Behind the big casino by the sea"😁🔪💀
